Structural and Pipe Fitters - Remote Alaska
We're hiring for two positions. Please send in your resume and indicate which role you're applying for.

The Structural Fitter assembles structural framework, components and materials such as angle iron, I-beams and other steel components that meets recognized standards and customer expectations by maintaining quality procedures.

Fundamental Functions:
  • Lay out, position, align and fit together fabricated parts of structural metal products according to blueprint and layout specifications
  • Must pass all tack tests: GMAW (MIG), FACW (Flux Core), SMAW (Stick).
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by functioning and communicating in an effective manner with customers, coworkers, clients, and supervisors.
  • Perform daily cleaning and maintenance of area.
  • Work in a safe and conscientious manner.
  • Properly fit mill to bear stiffeners.
  • Operate various pieces of grinding equipment for extended periods.
  • Operate cutting and heating torches - ability to accurately perform simple heat corrections.
  • With minimal assistance, check camber and sweep tolerances of girders and beams and be able to effectively make necessary corrections per pertinent codes and specifications.
  • Tack weld in all positions using multiple welding processes.
  • Grind parts, torque bolts and operate mechanical and manual cutting equipment.
  • Produce a finished product that meets recognized standards, codes, and customer expectations by maintaining quality procedures and practices within the guidelines of AWS D1.5 fitting tolerances.
  • Identify potential hazards and make necessary corrections.
  • Read and interpret weld symbols on shop drawings and prints and apply information accordingly.

  • Must own hand tools.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. All applications necessary to adequately perform required tasks.
  • Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance with the ability to work overtime and weekends.
  • Possess strong sense of urgency.
  • Works independently and/or as a cooperative team player.
  • Willingly takes direction from supervisory and lead personnel.
  • Adhere to quality procedures and demonstrates strong safety awareness and prevention.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • Eligibility for employment is contingent upon passing a drug screening.

The Pipefitter lays out, positions, aligns, and fits together pipe, fittings, flanges, etc. preparatory to welding by performing the following duties:

  • Foster and encourage our "Incident-Free Culture". Ensure that all HSE policies and procedures are followed. Lead by example.
  • Follow established job-site safety and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work area. Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
  • Produce quality work, meeting requirements of plans, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Plan and execute complex jobs regarding tools and material needs, rigging and equipment.
  • Utilizes all pipefitting techniques and methods for different types of piping systems and pipe couplings including butt welded, socket welded, and threaded fittings.
  • Track progress of the work. Conduct material take-offs from advanced ISOs, P&ID's and orthographic drawings.
  • Identify and apply material grades and pipe diameters to line specs.
  • Apply knowledge of fitting take-offs and advanced bolt up skills using appropriate torque techniques.
  • Perform hydro tests of complex piping systems.
  • Walk down systems for safe-out and initiate the safest plan.
  • Field measure, fabricate and install complex piping systems and compound rolling offsets.
  • Apply mechanical skills and safely work with hand tools.
  • Apply advanced mathematical skills to skillfully calculate loads and select appropriate rigging.
  • Must be able to set up and operate an oxy-acetylene torch.
  • Cut and strip insulation.
  • Report all safety and environmental incidents to the proper supervisor.
  • Complies with all safety policies and the applicable safety handbooks, leads, and educates fellow employees in safe work ethics, practices and behaviors.

Minimum Education and Experience:
  • Must be able to work in a rapidly changing environment, in multiple locations with shifting priorities.
  • Maintain good attendance and work with a positive attitude. Continued education to constantly upgrade skills is highly desired.
  • Must have a working knowledge of pipefitting techniques and methods.
  • Must be able to work with carbon steel, stainless steel, Duplex, and various high pressure/temperature alloys
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and fractions rapidly and accurately.
  • Must be proficient in the use of bevelers, threaders and other end prep machines.

  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
