Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently seeking a Wind Farm Construction Quality Manager . The role is being physically present at the construction site to perform the three phases of control and prepare documentation for each definable feature of work in their area of responsibility. This position will be based in Tucker, GA with 90% work being performed at project sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow and enforce company safety and quality policies and procedures
  • Review installation and testing procedures to ensure all work performed is completed in accordance with manufactures quality standards
  • Conduct installation progress inspections and final inspections of wind turbines at height (up tower) and wind turbine components to ensure conformity with manufactures manual and quality standards
  • Develop project Quality Plan (PQP)
  • Develop individual construction discipline inspection and testing plans (ITP's)
  • Provide project level assurance by performing audits against project and company requirements
  • Manage a team of quality inspectors
  • Perform inspections
    • support inspection resourcing
  • Develop clear and detailed audit reports based on on-site audits and present them to management
  • Document all non-conformities that arise through the site audits conducted
  • Responsible to verify job specific documentation such as checklist are being completed accurately
  • Manage punch list completion
  • Verify Tool Quality Control
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned

Skills / Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum 5 years experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Management systems
  • 5 - 10 years in a quality control supervisory role, wind turbine experience a plus
  • Experience in Wind Turbine construction is required
  • Prior experience climbing towers is required and willingness to climb towers on current projects will be considered an asset
  • ASQ or equivalent certification is highly desirable
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical blueprints and technical instructions
  • Associate degree or technical school education in relevant discipline is preferred
  • Must be a self-starter, organized, detailed oriented
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well with a team
  • Must be experienced in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities and provide Quality oversight for multiple contractors and craft
  • Knowledgeable regarding measurement and test equipment (MT&E) is preferred
  • Ability to obtain OSHA 30
  • Must pass drug test, physical, and background check
  • Authorization to lawfully work in the U.S. without sponsorship from Wood is required

Physical Demands
  • Ability to stoop, kneel and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Will work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and will walk on uneven ground.
  • Must have prior experience earing a safety harness and climbing 328 ft. towers
  • Tower Rescue Training or ability to pass working and rescue at heights training will be provided by company
