Job Summary

AECOM is a leading provider of professional and technical support to the water industry, local government and private developers.

We are looking for a talented Process Engineer with proven technical capacity to join our water team. based in Belfast/Dublin.

You will have the opportunity to work within a dynamic team on a challenging mix of projects in water and wastewater engineering. We are looking for an expert in the water and/or wastewater treatment field, with experience in:
  • Design / optimisation / upgrading of water treatment processes such as coagulation, flocculation, clarification, media filtration, membrane filtration, GAC, manganese removal, disinfection, washwater recovery, sludge thickening and dewatering is desirable.
  • Primary and storm treatment processes, activated sludge, biological filtration, settlement, package systems, membrane systems, sludge thickening dewatering and disposal, odour control and modelling, clean water treatment and chemical dosing plants.
  • Undertake process flow diagrams and P&ID's.
  • Complete process engineering calculations and simulation.
  • Design survey and assessments of existing process/equipment.
  • Feasibility and Optioneering Studies.
  • Hazard Identification Studies (e.g. HAZOP, FMEA etc.).
  • Communicate effectively with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure all technical documents and data are prepared and structured in accordance with relevant design standards and legislation.
  • Ensure the design satisfies all operational and safety requirements.
  • Check and verify engineering documents in line with the appropriate technical and quality plans.
  • Providing documentation and drawing deliverables on time to meet project deadlines.
  • Experience of designing for process safety would be highly desirable as AECOM are developing a centre of excellence in this area.
  • Knowledge of FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis) techniques would be advantageous.
  • Assisting with the checking and reviewing the work of peers and junior staff.
  • Able to provide process commissioning support to site team.
  • RepresentAECOM in technical meetings with clients and work with engineers from other disciplines, ensuring an appropriate integrated solution.
  • Working closely with the supply chain and performing technical bid analysis of their design.
Minimum Requirements
  • Excellent report writing, communication and teamwork skills.
  • Confidence and experience of meeting with internal and external clients and of producing proposals.
  • Willingness to travel to meet the needs of specific projects is desirable.
  • Experience of design at all stages from concept to commissioning.
  • Analytical and problem solving, attention to detail and creative thinking.
  • Experience in design and build projects would be advantageous.
  • Expert user of Microsoft office suite.
  • Some level of commercial awareness.
  • Experience of participation in HAZOP meetings and methods.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree educated (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering (or similar).
  • Chartered or nearing Chartered Engineer.
