ENGIE are recruiting for a Building Surveyor to be based in Merchant House, NE31 2EX. This is a permanent full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.
About the role:
As the Building Surveyor, you will survey and assess the building stock in order to determine the scope of works. To also provide effective design information on time in line with programme requirements, to enable construction and materials procurement to be effectively carried out.
You'll manage and work alongside Trades and understand, implement and adhere to the company SHEQ policy/strategy and ensure anybody reporting to you does the same.
Main Responsibilities/Duties Include:
  • Ensure implementation of all Company Policies and Procedures
  • Follow all Quality Assurance Procedures
  • To liaise with client as to extent of works required identifying any inspirational works in addition to decent homes standard
  • To notify & liaise with customers as to requirements for access to properties
  • To manage surveying resource and programme inspections
  • To survey the building stock identifying required works and any issues which effect the implementation of works on site (Asbestos, special needs of tenants and residents obstructions etc).
  • To assimilate survey information into work phases and produce Spreadsheets detailing scope of works
  • To produce house type information and drawings from measured surveys where required
  • To liaise with QS to assist with the pricing of works
  • To identify requirement for specialist sub-contractors and arrange/manage access to carry out tests/investigations
  • To liaise with client over progress with surveying, proposed work phases and access issues
  • To liaise with client over access, scope of works, and proposed completion dates to void properties
  • To respond to customer challenges and explain guidelines and decisions
  • To respond courteously and promptly to all client and customer queries


Required Qualifications, Skills or Experience:

  • Ability to fully operate Microsoft Project
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Effectively manage time in order to meet deadlines
  • Professional attitude and approach to work
  • Ability to competently operate MS office (Word & Excel)
  • Current and Valid UK driving license
Experience
  • Previous surveying experience
  • Up to date relevant knowledge of building legislation
  • Up to date relevant knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
  • Understanding of local government construction (refurb/New Build) projects
