ENGIE are recruiting for a Payroll Team Leader to be based in Newcastle, NE12 8EX however we are open to the possibility of agile working. This is a permanent full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at our Shared Service Centre. You'll maintain effective procedures and processes to ensure absolute accuracy of wages and salaries in line with agreed SLAs.

Role Overview
  • Lead the teams in the operation of the payroll processes with adequate process controls and segregation of duties.
  • Review all HMRC returns in line with regulatory requirements and submit to manager for authorisation.
  • Prepare all statutory payments for authorisation.
  • Hold an excellent working knowledge of payroll processes, legislation and compliance requirements
  • Operate in line with payroll procedures and processes including:
    • Payroll team, processing for weekly and monthly payrolls
    • Controls Team
    • Pensions Team
    • Absence Administration
    • Statutory and Voluntary deductions from pay
    • Statutory payments
    • Loading of Interface files
    • Liaison with HR as appropriate
  • Ensure the requisite transactions are processed in the pension scheme.
  • Complete payroll accounting entries and prepare and scrutinise the payroll journals.
  • Prepare, check and load the interface files.
  • Have a good working knowledge of payroll processes, legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Prepare monthly management reports.
  • Ensure all process documentation/operating procedures are up to date.
  • Liaison with HR as required and support the Payroll Manager.

Qualifications or Required Experience:
  • Experience in operating within a Payroll/Controls team in a transaction processing environment
  • CIPP qualification desirable
  • Technical knowledge in payroll reconciliation
  • Excellent administration skills
  • Excellent team player being mutually supportive
  • Good communication skills
  • Good data entry speeds
  • Strong IT skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Time Management
  • Analytical and customer service skills

Systems:
  • SAP ERP essential
  • Microsoft Office essential
  • Interface Systems to providers e.g., pension systems, flexible benefits.

This role includes a DBS/DS Standard therefore ability to pass is essential
