Machine Shop Apprentice:

Job Purpose:

Assist Machine shop Technicians learning how to preform and deliver machining operational support for the BHGE Flexible pipeline systems whilst learning on the job and studying for a level 3 engineering Technician standard in machining / toolmaking.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Behaviour - Appearance, cooperation, responsibility, impression, feedback, work ethic and enthusiasm
  • Cognitive - Learning ability, problem solving, health and safety, punctuality, awareness of time restraints, attendance and initiative.
  • Practical - Technical skills, quality of work, working to training program schedule

Principal Accountabilities: Key Performance Indicators
  • Behavioural
  • Cognitive
  • Practical

Qualifications/ Requirements
  • GCSE Math's grade 4 or above
  • GCSE Science grade 4 or above
  • GCSE IT grade 4 or above
  • GCSE English grade 4 or above
  • Currently studying / training for additional engineering or academic qualifications.

  • Genuine enthusiasm for Engineering.
  • Enjoys working in a team and treats everyone with respect in order to achieve goals
  • Likes to plan ahead and see tasks through from start to finish

Competency:

During the Baker Hughes FPS Apprenticeship 4-year program the successful candidate will attend college to achieve a level 3 Engineering apprenticeship in machining in both practical and knowledge based training.

Fabrication Apprentice

Maintenance Apprentice:

Job Purpose:

Assist the maintenance team in activities including but not limited to planned maintenance, machine breakdowns, machine installs / strip downs, supporting the manufacturing facility at Baker Hughes flexible pipeline Systems. This will include on the job learning whilst studying for a level 3 engineering Technician standard in electrical or mechanical engineering.

Day to Day:
  • Hand fitting
  • Electrical fault finding
  • Control systems
  • Producing drawings using CAD

During the Baker Hughes FPS Apprenticeship 3 year program, the successful candidate will attend college to achieve a level 3 engineering apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical engineering. • The first year you will be 1 full academic year based at Gateshead college in Team Valley.• The second and third year you will be based at Baker Hughes Walker Riverside full time, with 1 day per week day release at Gateshead college..
