Overview / Responsibilities

Wood has immediate employment opportunity for summer students in the environmental or biology field. The position can be placed in Calgary or Edmonton, AB. The successful candidate(s) will join our natural sciences team working on a range of natural science projects in western and northern Canada. Candidates with a background or education in biology, environmental, or natural science disciplines are encouraged to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The principal responsibilities of the position will be to assist with field studies, data entry, and logistics planning. The successful candidate(s) may also help with various office base tasks, as required. The successful candidate(s) must be able to work in remote settings and be available for extended shifts on site.

Skills / Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate(s) will have the following essential qualifications:

 

  • Be enrolled in a technical diploma course or bachelor's degree in biology, environmental, or natural resources, or equivalent courses.
  • Ability to work in urban and remote locations.
  • Valid Class 5 AB driver's license.
  • Microsoft word and excel skills.

 


ASSETS:

The following qualifications are assets for the posted position:

 

 

  • Experienced in conducting environmental field studies.
  • Expererienced driving ATVs.
  • Comfortable navigating through forest settings using compass, GPS, and maps.
  • Standard Alberta 1st Aid/CPR
