About the opportunity:

Working at our new Facility within our Field Services business you will be part of a large construction focused Project engineering team. The individual will be engaged in multiple diverse projects or maintenance alliance contracts throughout the people, places, and solutions LOB. These contracts will and can vary in size from tens of thousands up to multimillion-pound projects typically comprising of long-term frameworks.
Jacobs Field Services are offering a truly fantastic opportunity which will allow the successful individual to be involved across multiple client sectors from inception through to final delivery.
We are seeking an aspiring or developing Quantity Surveyor to engage with all life cycle phases of a project or maintenance portfolio of works within the utilities, clean energy, pharmaceutical, advanced facilities or building environment sectors.
Based primarily at our new Barton upon Humber office or Blyth office with regular attendances on local Humber and Yorkshire based client sites as well as on numerous sites and Jacobs offices around the UK. You will work in the role of Quantity Surveyor engaging directly with multiple clients, overlooking budgets and programmes being accountable for the commercial performance of contracts and supporting our tendering, engineering and design departments in delivering our projects safely, on time, and on budget whilst adding value through innovation and best practices.
Main duties:
• Work in a safe and sustainable manner, adhering to the highest professional standards whilst ensuring accountability for safety, and making sure our staff 'always do the right thing' and maintain robust HSE behaviours and cultures.
• Clear and concise communication and presentation skills.
• Provide robust financial and project reporting.
• To generate/maintain relevant records, accurate filing, and support for all commercial functions
• To prepare draft sub-contracts to the level of responsibility delegated by the individual's supervisor
• To monitor sub-contractor performance in consultation with the project team.
• To participate in pricing variations/design cost control/value engineering.
• Develop, maintain and manage project risk registers.
• Identification and management of change control.
• Proactively interact and collaborate with members of the project team.
• Work with supporting staff and functions to ensure the timely preparation of invoices and supporting documentation.
• Ensure appropriate Jacobs governance is applied to the project from tender through to execution and close out.


Here's What You'll Need:
• HNC, HND or Degree qualified candidate in a Quantity Surveying/Commercial discipline. Candidates with demonstrable experience may be considered
• O&M / R&M Framework experience essential
• Electrical & mechanical experience is advantageous but not essential
• Experience of industry standard & bespoke forms of contract
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft packages e.g. Excel, Word & PowerPoint
• Awareness of dispute resolution procedures
• Adept at understanding construction drawings and able to measure and take off accurately
• Ability to assess and value minor changes/variations in compliance with contract terms
• Applicants should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work as an effective member of the project team.
