Overview:

Solids Control is a process by which drilled-solids are removed from the drilling fluid by mechanical separation to economically maintain desired drilling fluid properties and optimize drilling performance.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide preventive maintenance on solids control equipment including shakers, centrifuges, pumps, generators, VFD's
  • When necessary, diagnose and repair solids control equipment
  • Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed
  • Communicate job progress to supervisor and customer as needed
  • Complete service reports, order parts, and maintain clear records
  • Willing to respond to emergency calls as directed by supervisor
  • Ability to maintain safe and clean work environment

Proficiencies:

  • Evaluate the effect of drilled solids on the total cost of a well
  • Determine the Equipment Solids Removal Efficiency of the system
  • Understand API RP 13C (Solids Control)
  • Evaluate the effect of drilled solids on drilling fluid properties
  • Minimize drilling fluid discarded • Analysis of different aspects of drilling which are affected by drilled solids
  • Solids transport capabilities of a drilling fluid
  • How equipment should be arranged on a drilling fluid processing plant
  • Selecting the proper centrifugal pump impeller
  • Mud tank agitation, Mud gun placement, Degasser operation and objective, Trip tank operation
  • Guidelines for effective drilled solids removal
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems
  • Solids control equipment repair experience

Qualifications:

  • Strong computer and mathematical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Engineering degree or relevant industrial certification preferred
  • Previous mechanical, engineering, military or industrial experience if no degree
  • Ability to comply with OSHA work requirements
  • Ability to travel and rotate shifts (2 weeks on 2 weeks off)
  • Excellent diagnostic and trouble-shooting skills, able to work well under pressure
  • Positive attitude and desire to provide outstanding, professional customer service
