Overview / Responsibilities

Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate/Senior Civil Engineer to join our Transmission and Distribution group at our Vancouver office in British Columbia. Key Responsibilities
  • Providing civil engineering design and technical support for the construction and modification of Transmission and Distribution systems
  • Preparing proposals, study reports, engineering specifications, and contract documents
  • Leading and mentoring junior staff
  • Reviewing project documents and drawings for technical quality and accuracy
  • Managing multiple tasks in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Utilizing expertise of general civil designs and acting as a resource for industry codes, standards, and construction methods
  • Establishing good working relationships and communication with discipline leads, project managers and clients


Skills / Qualifications

  • Graduate or Undergraduate engineering degree coupled with eligibility to register with EGBC
  • 7-15 years of industrial experience in projects of varying stages from conceptual to detailed design
  • Piping (both gravity and pressure) , storm water drainage, access roads and earthworks design experience
  • Experienced in design of oil spill containment and management systems
  • Capable of developing creative yet practical concepts
  • Experience in writing technical reports
  • A willingness to travel to remote field locations on a short term basis
  • Excellent organizational, technical, communication and computer skills
  • Ability to handle challenges and work under tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills / positive attitude and ability to work in a team atmosphere is required
