Our client are seeking a full time Technical Director based in their office in Lancashire.


Job Summary:


Reporting to the Managing Director, you will provide technical leadership across the organisation. As head of the Engineering Team, you will ensure delivery of quality products and services in accordance with customer requirements and regulatory compliance within agreed project timescales and budgets.


The successful candidate will have a background in Electrical Engineering and a good understanding and experience of industrial control system hardware and software, as well as current industry best-practice, standards and regulations. You will support the company's plans for growth, ensuring development of the team's capabilities in step with improvements in technology.



Main duties will include:


Supporting and contributing towards the company's strategic direction

Acting as ultimate technical authority to ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines

Management of the design engineering team

Understand customers' technical requirements

Technical and commercial assessment of incoming enquiries

Oversee production of proposals

Customer liaison at enquiry and project stages

Application of standards and regulations

Scheduling and monitoring workflow proactively

Design review and approval

Liaison with manufacturing teams

Key customer account management

Providing technical guidance to the sales team


The ideal candidate will possess:


A recognised Electrical Engineering or Control Systems qualification

Significant experience in a senior technical position

Experience managing engineering teams

Commercial awareness and experience

Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written

Good organisational and planning skills

Full UK driving licence


In addition, knowledge or experience of any of the following would be an advantage:


Low Voltage Switchgear and Control Gear (BS EN 61439)

PLC, HMI and SCADA systems

ATEX design/installations (BS EN 60079)

Machine, functional safety, process safety (BS EN ISO 13849, BS EN 61508)

Health & Safety systems

Quality Management systems
