As part of the Landmark Computation Science and Engineering for Energy R&D team, you will lead research into the use of physics-based simulators to create static geological models, characterizing the subsurface from exploration to reservoir scale. This will involve exploring the integration of different modelling techniques and the utilization of regional geological context into such models. The research will therefore build close links with our innovative Scalable Earth Modelling and Neftex technology.
As part of the role, you will also provide strategic advice to management on research directions within subsurface modelling, train and mentor staff in applications, interact with customers, and contribute to consultancy projects as required.
- Practitioner-level knowledge of subsurface software (e.g. forward stratigraphic modelling and/or tools for reservoir characterisation in Earth models)
- Experience of applying subsurface modelling software to solve applied industry problems in a variety of scenarios
- Skills in adapting software to specific tasks
- Strong theoretical knowledge of sedimentary processes
- Strong petroleum geoscience knowledge. Reservoir geology knowledge a strong advantage,
- Proven publication record
- Ancillary skills - team player, strong presenter, passionate research interests
- 10+ years of post-PhD experience
- Knowledge of data science and geostatistics an advantage
