Reporting on a daily basis to the Offshore Maintenance Team Leader, this position will fill a key role within the Operations Team throughout the project phases and into early operations.

This role calls for a very high level of technical competence over the holistic range of the Facilities Automation, Telecommunication & Safety Instrument Systems through the projects testing, commissioning & operations phases.

The successful applicant will be highly motivated with strong supervision, coaching, mentoring, assessing and interpersonal skills.

Throughout the tenure in the role its primary focus shall be on coaching and developing national staff using CMAS to the level required by BP to support the future ACE offshore asset in achieving "Safe, Complaint & Highly Reliable" operations.

This role is based initially in the Baku construction yards moving offshore in the Caspian sea through the HUC and operational phases and requires working an equal time 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off rotation.

Key Accountabilities
  • Serve as the technical liaison to contractors and facility personnel regarding automation system
  • Serve as SIS custodian on the installation to ensure compliance with relevant company, industry and regulatory standards
  • Develop, maintain and upgrade of automation system databases, programs and telemetry/communication protocols
  • Develop, implement, and maintain automated programs and reports to ensure accuracy of field production rates and safety system functionality
  • Manage instrument and control engineering contractors and ensure their competency commitments to the facility are delivered.
  • Liaise with the project delivery teams to support commissioning and start-up of new equipment/systems.
  • Lead alarm management performance and rationalisation as part of the site's Process Safety Management process.
  • Analyse instrument and control problems or issues and develop or recommend solutions.
  • Provide support for incident and root cause failure analysis investigations.
  • Participate in design reviews and risk assessments.
  • Provide close plant support where required to address issues at an early stage.
  • Actively participate in the MOC process - provide input to all instrument and control related plant modifications and software changes to ensure they are designed and installed in compliance with company technical practices and optimise performance.
  • Operate as a control system area authority, ensuring compliance with the Business Unit/installation practices; this includes compliance with BP/industry guidelines and practices.
  • Part of the day to day duties is to provide mentoring and coaching assistance to develop national technicians/engineers within the asset.
  • Ensure compliance with digital security requirements.
Essential Criteria
  • Self-motivation and ability to work both independently and as a good team player with good communication and organisation skills.
  • Experience in a key Control of Work role as a Performing Authority & Isolating Authority as a
  • Knowledge of maintenance management principals and planning process.
  • Experience with Emerson DeltaV system and AMS system.
  • Extensive experience on DeltaV configuration application, system administration, Sequence logic, discrete logics
  • Experience on DeltaV installation and windows workstation and server maintenance like RAID configuration, hard disk and network card troubleshooting and replacements etc.
  • Experience with OPC, Modbus, and other serial interfaces.
  • Familiar and experience on field bus/Profibus devices and segments.
  • Be competent in the understanding and operation of FMC Subsea Control Systems. FMC Smart Tool Training would be beneficial.
