We're looking for a Senior Contract Manager based in 22740 PLEUDANIEL (Brittany) - Offshore Wind

  • The main purpose of this role is to lead contracting processes in a Key Strategic package within Ailes Marines SAS (AMS) project. The candidate will be involved in the project with the aim to lead manage several contracts and potentially tender processes and negotiations during the execution phase up to final settlement.
  • Belonging to the Construction Department and reporting to the Principal Contract Manager, you will be liaising with several contractors and managing different standard and nonstandard contracts (BIMCO, Logic, etc.). Contract scopes under your management may include, among others, Crew Transfer Vessels, port services, construction management and commissioning contracts.
  • The Site Contract Manager will work closely with the supply chain and maintain high level relationships with the suppliers and contractors. The selected candidate will ensure that AMS maintains very effective and value adding relationships with the suppliers which will enhance our ability to deliver against our business strategy.
  • With the Construction port based at Lezardrieux, the position will be based at Kerantour (22740) from April 2021 onwards and may require travel to various locations in France (mainly Paris) and occasionally Europe. During development, contracting and delivery of the AMS project (large packages) the individual should be prepared to interact with teams working at different project locations.

Tasks for this role will include:

  • Detailed contractual assessments to support project business case: Monitoring contractor performance in the project, to ensure quality, H&S and cost targets are met and ensuring the project is implemented in a manner consistent with the contract terms and with sound commercial and risk management principles.
  • Implement the necessary processes and procedures required to develop and contract Key Suppliers (and related works) at site for AMS.
  • Negotiate and complete a specific set of contracts for site construction (including, potentially O&M facilities) and services.
  • Anticipate contractual and commercial risks, opportunities and threats to the project and implement control measures or actions.
  • Oversee that projects comply and follow standard processes and procedures while developing or executing the project.
  • Add value by maintaining relationships with all contractors and suppliers.
  • Coordinate all legal, procurement and cost control activities for the site.
  • Management of Supply Chain strategy for the specific area of the project.
  • Drive continuous improvement in contractual strategies, commercial parameters and contractual terms and conditions.

  • Take sufficient steps to minimize project risks
  • Liaise and support the Offshore Construction Manager and the Project Construction Manager to ensure the project is executed safely and properly
  • Ensure compliance with the company's work health and safety policies, standards and procedures
  • Prepare monthly and weekly project reports and make presentations at meetings
  • Support negotiations of claims, manage contractual changes and resolve disputes or conflict resolution with Contractors
  • Assess and prepare claims from suppliers
  • Ensure project members use the contract correctly

  • Coordinate support and coordinate key expertise from within the offshore business.
  • Collaborate with all departments to ensure necessary input to contracts.
  • Collaborate with O&M to ensure requirements are specified and delivered and assets are effectively transferred into operation to deliver business returns
  • Collaborate with Technical Services for effective and efficient deployment of resources and knowledge development/ retention
  • Collaborate with Project Support for effective and efficient deployment of resources and knowledge development/ retention
  • Collaborate and coordinate with all corporate functions to ensure alignment and delivery of contract strategies.
  • Maintain key relationships with contractors and suppliers.
  • Represent offshore business within industry, with government officials and regulators.
  • Collaboration with Partners aligning investment plans, sharing knowledge and best practice and delivering joint venture projects/ assets.

KEY DIMENSIONS (Budget / Resources managed - internal and external):
  • French, Spanish, British and German team members, different cultures to incorporate in the scope of works.
  • The Saint-Brieuc Project is working one main office (Paris), with several other support offices (London, Glasgow, Madrid, Bilbao, Saint-Brieuc, Kerantour, …).
  • Several Construction and Site support contracts such a Crew Transfer Vessels, Port services, construction management and commissioning contracts. (Budgets from 1 to 10 M€ each.)

  • Degree and professional qualification in either relevant engineering discipline (Civil, Mechanical/Electrical/Marine Engineering) OR commercially orientated qualification.
  • Experience in the energy and construction sectors.
  • Proven track record of contract negotiation and contract management.
  • IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems. Other IT based project management software will be a plus.
  • Proven track record working in multicultural projects.
  • French: Mother tongue
  • English:  Fluency (Essential)
  • Spanish: Fluency (Desirable)

  • Significant experience in management of medium sized contracting strategies.
  • Proven track record delivering medium sized, complex, multidisciplinary designs and execution of works in an offshore environment.
  • Significant knowledge of industry standards and offshore regulations.
  • Significant technical and practical knowledge of offshore wind technology.
  • Significant knowledge of health and safety and environmental legislation associated with construction projects.
  • Proven capability of delivering against multiple targets.
  • Pro-active and diligent approach.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Good report writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Good organizational and operational skills with the ability to link this awareness to contractual judgement and decision making.
  • Computer literate with a good working of Microsoft office applications as well as an ability to deal with new software.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to a rapidly changing in working environment and demonstrate a positive approach to change.
  • High degree of self-motivation with a flexible approach to work.
