About the opportunity:

We are currently looking for a Senior Civil /Structural Engineer position to join the team based in Whitehaven. To lead and produce technical packages for the Analytical Services Portfolio, with minimal supervision from the Project Manager. The requirement is to be part of a Civil and Structural team in the definition, implementation and delivery of engineering design work packages through concept, preliminary and detailed design. The Senior Civil/Structural Engineer shall report to the Responsible Civil/Structural Engineer.

Essential Skills
 

  • Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer (CEng (ICE/IStructE))
  • Appropriate qualifications in Civil or Structural e.g. MEng, BEng, BSC, HND, HNC
  • Experience of working on projects delivering multidiscipline design solutions, predominantly on brownfield sites.
  • Understanding of the project delivery all stages of design (concept, front end through to detail construction).
  • Developing and leading a team of civil/structural design engineers in the definition, implementation and delivery of engineering work packages.
  • Knowledge of British Standards and Eurocodes for reinforced concrete, steel, masonry and timber structures.
  • Sound working knowledge and experience of relevant legislation.
  • Experience of operating in a highly regulated environment; Rail, Bridge Construction, Offshore, petrochemical etc.

 


Desirable Skills:

 

 

 

  • Experience of being embedded into supply chain integrated teams.
  • Knowledge of the Sellafield Ltd Management System (SLMS).
  • Experience of civil/structural safety design and interaction with the Regulator.
  • Experience of Design Justification Experience in preparation and delivery of Requirement Specifications.
  • Design Tools: Tedds/Staad Pro.
  • Substantiation of existing structures and interaction with Temporary Works/Scaffolds.
  • Check and review of sub -contractor designs.
  • Ability to obtain SC Clearance or above
  • Ability to obtain P4 Pass
  • Candidate will not be able to commence work on the project until these are in place.
