NESFircroft  is a leading global technical recruitment company providing professional contract and permanent staff to a diverse world-wide client base within the oil & gas Industry. Our client, is currently seeking a Marine Traffic Advisor for a 1 year contract in Kitimat BC. This role will be working on a 5/2 with mobilisation flights and accommodations provided. 

Reporting to the Site Logistics Manager, the Marine Advisor- Project Phase will provide technical marine consultancy to the client with specific emphasis on marine & terminal traffic coordination, port and terminal facilities operations and safety.

Job Duties: 
  • Act as Marine / Shore Traffic Coordinator for the Private Port of Kitimat supporting construction and logistic teams and ensuring AIS monitoring of all project vessels during construction phase.
  • Provide advice for shipping activities during construction phase (geotech, dredging, material transport, module logistics).
  • Support to logistics (Supply Chain Team) for importing of modules via either heavy lift vessel or heavy transport vessels at the Materials Offloading Facility, through to lay down and hand over to the construction Team. 
  • Activities to support the Supply Chain Team will be assigned as appropriate.
  • Assist in Audits of Marine operations risk management during construction phase and continuously demonstrate safety leadership on the ground.
  • Ensure EPC contractor and subcontractors comply with Canadian Maritime requirements during construction phase, issuing Navigational Warnings where required.
  • Participate in the Client's Emergency Response Team when required.

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of heavy lift operations of heavy transport vessels.
  • Strong Marine Traffic Coordination,project management skills, ability to prioritise and manage many activities at the same time.
  • Knowledge and experience of marine activities, including port and Marine terminal operations.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills to network effectively across internal and external business interfaces and with staff of different disciplines and seniority levels.
  • Team player with the necessary communication (oral and written) skills to interface with other disciplines and external parties in a remote team.
  • Ability to resolve and provide clear, fit for purpose solutions in line with Group and Industry guidelines and practices.
  • Experience understanding contractual agreements with 3rd parties
  • Demonstrate behaviours promoting an environment of trust, shared ownership and world class delivery
  • Must be Legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e. by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency or valid work permit)
  • Reside in Kitimat/Terrace, BC region
  • Work a 50hrs schedule during Construction. (Hours of operation may change due to Vessel Schedule)
  • Can climb ladders and stairs, ability to board various vessels and barges.
