Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently seeking a Health, Safety, Security, & Environmental (HSSE) Program Safety Professional. The position requires a high level of commitment and dedication to the health and well being of others. The HSSE Program Safety Professional will travel to project sites to ensure contractors are performing in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have education, training, and experience in the fields of occupational safety, health, and construction. This includes experience with OSHA regulations, injury care, auditing, and employee engagement.

This position reports into our Kennesaw, GA office, but work location is flexible and open to telecommuting

Duties and Responsibilities :
  • Providing HSSE leadership and management for projects, assuring compliance with regulatory, contractual, and company requirements
  • Collaboration with Wood operational leadership to recognize, evaluate, and control risks and achieve optimal HSSE performance
  • Serving as project Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) on selected projects and providing HSSE support both remotely and at the project site
  • Identifying HSSE resource needs per project, based on budget, scale, HSSE hazard profile, and technical complexity
  • Participating in tailgate safety meetings
  • Managing onsite performance of subcontractors and confirming adherence to regulatory and project specific HSSE requirements, and documenting corrective actions as required
  • Taking measures to reduce hazards and correct potentially unsafe work conditions
  • Promoting occupational safety & health leadership, safety awareness, special training, and Wood "Safety Shield" culture to employees and subcontractors
  • Ensuring program compliance with Wood's HSSEA policies on all projects, and documenting project findings
  • Reviewing Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) and Point of Work Risk Assessments (PoWRA)
  • Leading incident investigations and root cause analysis processes
  • Overnight travel required

Skills / Qualifications

Role Requirements :
  • 10+ years construction safety management experience including Fall Protection, Scaffolding, Steel Erection, Excavation, Crane Operations, and Confined Space Entry
  • Bachelor's Degree in HSSE, Engineering, or Science preferred
  • CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
  • Thorough understanding of OSHA regulations and PPE
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and 40 Hour HAZWOPER training preferred
  • Valid driver's license
  • Flexibility to work and travel outside normal business hours as required
  • Must be computer proficient with working knowledge of MS Excel and Word
