Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a 3DV Systems Lead to take responsibility for development and deployment of 3D Visualisation (3DV) applications, associated data sets and digital asset projects. The successful candidate will act as the Subject Matter Expert, supporting our clients and internal team on the strategy, innovation and implementation.

In the context of this role, 3DV is considered to encompass (but may not be limited to) the following areas:
  • 3D model viewing applications and associated data
  • Laser scan point cloud viewing applications and associated data
  • Photogrammetry viewing applications and associated data
  • Other Digital Twin / Digital Asset visualisation applications

They will also provide relevant project support, training and related administrative functions across future information and data management projects.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Defining client's business requirements and understanding / supporting their business strategies to ensure full alignment when proposing digital 3DV solutions
  • Providing training, support and guidance to Wood and clients with reference to their current and future digital 3DV requirements, with regards to systems, data, toolsets, processes and workflows
  • Defining scopes for new and / or improved systems, toolsets, processes and workflows
  • Developing and supporting plans for 3DV data improvement and migration, including managing and supporting identified gaps in data quality
  • Developing and supporting transition planning, training and rollout of new and / or improved systems, toolsets, processes and workflows
  • Leading 3DV System implementation projects
  • Attending regular client meetings and providing requisite project reports on an as agreed basis
  • Identifying opportunities for project expansion and/or new business opportunities and feeding these back to line management
  • Contributing to developing Wood's wider IMDC strategy and growth of digitalisation projects
  • Identifying key skill sets required to deliver current and future 3DV system and data / digitalisation projects. Training, mentoring and developing both new and existing staff to deliver these


Skills / Qualifications

The successful candidate should:
  • Seek to gain, share and reuse their extensive knowledge, experience and best practice within the 3DV space
  • Be proactive in suggesting industry best practice (aligned to legislative requirements), good process and governance methodologies, and highlighting any issues or concerns
  • Position themself as a thought leader in the marketplace and within Wood
  • Provide governance and over-sight of all aspects of 3DV system and associated data management technical delivery
  • Ensure a consistent approach to 3DV delivery, through the appliance of standardised strategy, tools, processes, and procedures
  • Ensure there are no major disconnects between systems used for 3DV delivery and model management and assure the integrity of all system data interfaces
  • Provide input to the development and maintenance of the 3DV and data management strategy, procedures and reporting
  • Provide direction and guidance for 3DV Systems and data management across Wood, working with all relevant parties to align and standardise where possible
  • Be innovative in their thinking around what clients can use their 3DV systems to achieve, including value in terms of financial, environmental and safety
  • Contribute to new business through active involvement in networking and pre-sales support and assistance in the production of proposals
  • Identify current and emerging technology opportunities and developments in the 3DV space
  • Assist in engaging with and reviewing current and prospective software partners and their associated technology

The successful candidate will be responsible for gaining full awareness of the following:
  • Current client data sources - what are they, how much data, format, anomalies, etc - and ongoing projects therein

They should also:
  • Understand Wood vision of Digital Twin / Digital Asset delivery
  • Understand the full requirements for building a pathway to a digital asset and then maintaining the data integrity therein
  • Understand 3DV toolsets, including photogrammetry, point cloud data, mesh and be able to confidently provide user cases aligned to value
  • Be able to link and understand IM practices in relation to 3DV toolsets, model updates and management of change in an engineering and production environment

Essential skills:
  • Good working knowledge of engineering, operational and vendor data sets
  • Knowledge of applicable 3DV systems and interfaces
  • Knowledge of engineering information management systems and platforms
  • Knowledge of digital asset technologies and interfaces
  • Experience in contributing to digital asset projects
  • Experience in creating and delivering training programmes
  • Able to identify and define process improvement opportunities within data and information management and articulate these for our clients

Minimum Experience:
  • Experience in client facing position
  • Achievement in a lead/senior role including system and process implementation, service development and delivery
  • Demonstrable appropriate experience at relevant level and position
  • Experience in related 3DV systems and data
  • Expert knowledge of applicable/related systems and data in more than one of the following key areas:
    • 3D model view/review (Autodesk Navisworks, Universal Plant Viewer, AVEVA Review, SmartPlant Review, WalkInside or similar)
    • Laser scan point cloud view (Cintoo, AVEVA LFM, Leica TruView or similar)
    • Photogrammetry view (R2S, Zynq360, Matterport, Cyberhawk or similar)
    • Other Digital Twin / Digital Asset visualisation (AVEVA Engage, Bentley iTwin/Plantsight or similar)
    • Awareness of associated information management systems (Bentley ALIM, PIM360, AVEVA Net or similar)
