About the opportunity:

Our Water and Environment business provides a focus for advising our clients on environmental assessment and sustainability issues. The environmental impact assessment (EIA) of new infrastructure requires individuals with a broad range of knowledge of environmental and sustainability issues and excellent people management skills in order to bring together a diverse team of environmental specialists to assess the impact of the infrastructure on the environment and influence design through mitigation.

We currently have opportunities for Principal/Associate Director EIA Consultants to work on a portfolio of flood alleviation schemes across England. We are looking for talented and motivated environmental professionals with experience in co-ordinating, managing and delivering EIAs and associated consenting, with a particular emphasis on flood and coastal defence projects. The successful candidates will join one of our local Environmental Assessment teams while becoming part of a respected and ambitious company with excellent career prospects and international opportunities.


  • A Masters degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent level of experience
  • Experience in a key discipline area, such as ecology, landscape assessment, hydrology, and EIA.
  • Have a good awareness of the Environment Agency and experience working with local planning and flood authorities.
  • A good understanding of the environmental impacts associated with infrastructure developments such as river and coastal flood defence schemes as well as coastal strategies.
  • A good awareness and understanding of relevant stakeholders
  • Accomplished in people management and organisational skills, particularly co-ordinating multi-disciplinary teams, and working collaboratively.
  • Chartered status and Full Membership of a recognised relevant professional body (e.g. Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA). Where a candidate does not meet this requirement, you would be expected to achieve this as one of your priorities in your first year.
