Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking an Environmental Technician to join our dynamic team in Gainesville, FL.

Key Responsibilities:

The scope of this project includes supporting the shipping & handling portion of the USEPA Chemical Speciation Network contract, which processes ambient air samples on a continuous set schedule. Personnel should be meticulous, detail oriented and able to follow multi step procedures in order to keep track of many parts, samples, and components for the 150 station national network.

The general tasks will include preparing filter media in sample modules, securely packaging the modules and preparing them for shipment, ensuring samples are shipped on the correct schedule, and unpackaging modules and removing the filter media once they are returned to the lab where they will be shipped to the analysis laboratory. Candidates with scientific data entry, general lab and/or Microsoft Access database experience preferred. Attention to detail is of the utmost importance.

Salary range $13-$15 an hour full time commensurate with education/experience.

Skills / Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to lift objects up to 20 pounds repeatedly without help
  • General knowledge of shipping, handling, and receiving processes
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to accomplish contract requirements
  • Able to use a computer to make labels and ship samples via overnight carrier
  • Ability to multi-task the work within the group and switch from one task to another readily
  • Shipping and database experience a plus
  • 0 to 3 years work experience
