Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is seeking a Superintendent to support our Construction & Remediation Group that performs large remediation construction projects for multiple business sectors. This position will oversee environmental remediation work during the execution of government and commercial projects. The position will report to the Construction and/or Project Manager for each project assigned.

Key Responsibilities

Primary duties will be managing and directing field operations (supervising/directing self-perform and management of subcontractor based on their respective Scopes of Work) during the execution of remediation projects. The role and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
  • During pre-construction, support the project team drafting work plans; specially the means and methods used to execute fieldwork, as projected in the budget and schedule, and other project supporting documents in preparation for field mobilization
  • During project execution, responsible for the timely preparations of daily activity reports for review and issuance by the PM that includes reporting and percent effort complete updates
  • Oversee Supervising/directing self-perform civil earthwork scope of work and subcontractors performing other subcontracts. Candidate must have general knowledge of all trades with sufficient general understanding to provide supervision/direction
  • Oversee survey teams (understanding of earthwork related staking requirements for field construction crew to perform their work) and coordination with subcontractors and heavy equipment operators
  • Supervise/direct project support staff to include equipment operators, laborers, attendants, and junior engineers supporting the project quality assurance functions
  • Responsible for project site conditions including cleanliness, operations, safety, and sequencing of work
  • Lead daily tailgate meetings to address scopes of work for the day and Job Safety Analysis to address the planned work
  • Manage stormwater best management practices (BMPs), ensure fieldwork is performed in compliance with ES&H site specific plan, meeting the spec requirements (Quality Control Criteria) and verify environmental compliance conditions are maintained
  • Generate necessary procurement requisitions to facilitate timely delivery of materials necessary to execute the project
  • Work to, and plan fieldwork with the project schedule; notifying the PM as soon as work is moving out of schedule (falling behind or running ahead of schedule)

Skills / Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering, Construction Management, or other related discipline preferred
  • 3-5 + years environmental remediation superintendent experience
  • Proficiency with surveying equipment and GPS interface with heavy equipment
  • Proficiency reading design drawings and details
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
