Overview / Responsibilities

Wood are currently bidding for a large-scale oil and gas project with ADNOC Should we be awarded this work, we will have a requirement for a PMC Site Construction HSE Engineer to join us This position will be based at site onshore in Abu Dhabi, UAE
  • Oversee contractor's day to day management of HSSE construction activities
  • Manage and supervise all HSE construction activities, contractors, subcontractors, and vendors, and ensure works are in-line with HSE requirements, contract specifications, and company requirements
  • Review and approve safety related activities from the contractors including tie-ins, large lifting activities, erection methodologies, commissioning procedures
  • Ensure all safety equipment and personal protective equipment are in place and in suitable conditions
  • Ensure HSE documentation, implementation of HSE procedures, compliance of ISO14001 & OHSAS18001, compliance assurance programmes,
  • Participate, Investigate and report HSE incidents and near misses
  • Management supervision and direction of HSSE personnel including Advisors, Supervisors, Managers, Trainers
  • Oversee the development and application of hazard identification and risk assessment strategies to reduce the risks during construction
  • Ensure HSE requirements are communicated to all Projects, contractors, relevant personnel and verify compliance by all appropriate means
  • Provide awareness to the Company and contractor staff, and identify and promote opportunities for HSE performance improvement
  • Ensure Corporate Objectives, Policies and Procedures are cascaded to and implemented on designated Projects
  • Report to Company Project and Construction Manager and liaise with Contractor supervisors and site construction manager
  • Liaise with support personnel such as disciplines, materials, logistics and QC
  • Attending equipment and piping tests
  • Manage all interfaces between contractors, company and 3rd parties
  • Perform regular HSE performance reviews, inspections and audits
  • Ensure construction areas housekeeping and are constructed to international quality standards
  • Responsible for representing Company in all construction related meetings with contractor, vendors and subcontractors
  • Ensure that good working relations are maintained with contractor throughout project
  • Able to solve problems and suggest solutions which are in line with safety good practices and standards
  • Development of local young engineers and providing development programs


Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree
  • Relevant HSSE degree or NEBOSH Diploma plus
  • At least 10 years' experience in construction HSE management
  • At least 5 years' experience in Oil & Gas industry
  • Knowledge of HSE certification processes and requirements (e.g. OHSAS18001, ISO14001, NFPA)
  • Understanding of a wide range of construction processes, including: welding, testing, lifting
  • Good English language (speaking and writing) as well as IT and standard computer applications
  • Good people skills and capacity to work in multi-cultural organizations
