Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is looking for a Construction Site Safety Inspector for one of our project locations.

The Safety Inspector will be supporting the construction management team from a safety perspective. Some of the responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Review work plans and safety SOPs to ensure they remain up-to-date
  • Develop, conduct, and track / record daily and monthly required safety briefings
  • Ensure workers have proper levels of safety training and coordinate overall task-specific safety training where required
  • Ensure proper personal protective equipment is available and used by staff and work crews
  • Conduct regulatory and customer required safety training
  • Interface with managers, supervisors, team leads, and team members on safety aspects of work efforts to promote open communication
  • Collect and document OHSA required information for compliance with the processes and procedures
  • Follow all local codes, standards and regulatory safety requirements
  • Conduct, document, and report all required monthly and annual safety audits
  • Ensure all COVID-19 health and safety requirements are met by all site personnel


Skills / Qualifications

  • Even though a University degree is highly preferred, demonstration of the skills and qualifications mentioned below will be important:
    • 10 years of experience supporting / leading safety management at construction sites (Civil, Infrastructure, Linear Construction)
    • Experience in managing the health & safety program at a corporate level with regard to engineering and facility maintenance work
    • Strong technical knowledge and background in regulatory standards and safety engineering
    • Experience in performing multi-task projects with tight completion deadlines in a brown field environment working around existing facilities
    • Good working skills using MS Word, Power-Point, and Excel
    • Demeanor that promotes safety consciousness, open-mindedness with positive approach to problem solving
    • Experience in developing and presenting safety training packages
    • Experience in assessing work hazards and developing safe work procedures
    • Experience in briefing work crews and building occupants in the safety aspects of maintenance / construction work
    • Training in OHSA safety and / or industrial hygiene programs related to facility O&M, construction, and environmental / infrastructure field work
