This position is located on an offshore oil platform in Federal waters off the coast of southern California.

Duties include but are not limited to: ensuring the work in and around the rig floor and Blow Out Preventer (BOP) occurs in a safe and effective manner thereby meeting or exceeding the goals and objectives for safety, production and budget; ensuring the safety of the crew and support personnel working in and about the rig floor; ensuring the proper rig up and rig down, continual preventative maintenance and repair of the equipment used in the rig operations along with ensuring continual cleaning and housekeeping in and about the rig area; ensuring rig operations follow established plan; ensuring good coordination of services and communication with personnel as well as the Company representatives; training and supervising the Floorhands and any Roustabouts who may work with him/her.


Essential Functions:

1. Ensuring safe and efficient rig operations so as to meet the company's goals and objectives including the safety and welfare of all personnel and equipment.

2. The Rig Operator is the lead crew member in charge of the Rig Crew; ensuring compliance with all Company and safety regulations. Responsible for the operation of the draw works, actual work-over and assessments of down hole conditions, and well pressures.

3. Assigning daily job tasks to the crew members and providing proper guidance, direction and appropriate tools/supplies to the rig crew.

4. Conducting rig inspections. Constantly verifying the equipment and recording the data into the log.

5. Maintain frequent communication with the Rig Supervisor and crew; report any well issues or concerns immediately to the Rig Supervisor.


Knowledge, Skill and Experience:

1. Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required:

High school diploma or GED, minimum. Well Control Supervisor (T-1) Certificate and Production Safety (T-2) Certificate required.

2. Minimum Experience required:

Minimum of 3 years Rig Operator experience in oilfield, preferably offshore.

3. Skills Required:

· Proven, extensive working knowledge and experience in oil field rig operations.

· Ability to properly and safely operate all rig associated equipment.

· Thorough knowledge of rig safety regulations and safety practices.

· Knowledge of down hole and production systems; Nipples BOP's- up and down.

· Ability to work with and communicate effectively with employees, outside vendors and regulating agency representatives.

· Experience and knowledge of inspecting all safety equipment.

· Must be capable of directing rescue operations for injuries or overcome personnel.

· Good reasoning skills and above average math skills.
