The Civil Engineering Co-op at Jacobs provide engineering students an opportunity to gain real-world experience in their specific area of study. Co-ops will work alongside world-class professionals in a fast-paced, professional setting which provides interns invaluable experiences applying the knowledge and skills learned through education in a business environment. A minimum of three work terms are required. Preferably Summer 2021 (mid-May - mid Aug), Spring 2022 (Jan - mid-May), and Fall 2022 (Sept. - December). This posting is for the Summer 2021 Term start.

The candidate would be exposed to tasks civil engineering disciplines including roadway design, structural engineering, transportation planning, aviation, and intelligent transportation systems.

Typical work tasks include; performing calculations and evaluations in the design of solutions and systems for public infrastructure applications and developing plans, specifications, cost estimates and schedules for use during construction. You will also be responsible for using computer-assisted engineering software, collecting and preparing data, plan development and assisting in the design of fiber option and wireless communications.


  • Candidate must be currently enrolled in at least their freshman or sophomore year working towards a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD or MicroStation preferred
  • Working knowledge of Word and Excel is required
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to work in thrive in a team environment
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong oral and written communications skills

Other Essential Functions: Position is primarily based in an office environment. Some domestic work related travel, outdoor field integration and oversight will be required. Candidate should be eager to learn, willing to take on new tasks, interact with clients, and grow professionally with Jacobs.
