Position Description:
We are seeking a technical writer to join the Engineering Knowledge & Resources Division (EK&RD) of the Operational Excellence Department within Engineering, under Engineering Services. Working within the Standards Management Unit under EK&RD, the technical writer will do the following:

Develop comprehensive documentation that meets organizational standards.

Obtain a deep understanding of products and services to translate complex product information into simple, polished, and engaging content.

Write user-friendly content that meets the needs of the target audience.

Develop and maintain detailed databases of appropriate reference materials.

Perform detailed reviews of engineering standards to comply with in place procedures and governance.

Convert standards to preapproved templates and meet approved structure and formatting.

Minimum Requirements:
As the successful candidate, you will hold a Bachelor's degree in English (writing) or an equivalent discipline from a recognized and approved program. An advanced degree would be an advantage.

You will have ten years of experience, including five years in a standardization organization, or seven years of intensive experience in standards preparation, review, and development, in design offices or O&G companies.

You will have excellent written and spoken English language skills.

You will have advanced experience with MS (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)

You will have advanced written, presentation, and verbal communication skills.

You will be flexible to accommodate the workload.

You will be able to develop other employees to build their skills in technical writing.

You will have basic knowledge of the main engineering disciplines.

You will be proactive and able to handle initiatives as an individual or within a taskforce.

Duties & Responsibilities:
The candidate will report to the Standards Management Unit Supervisor.

You will be required to perform the following:

Review Engineering Standards and other engineering documents (grammar, spelling, structure, style, font, etc.)

Ensure compliance to standards templates and other standards management requirements.

Support the Standards Management Team by writing internal standards, work instructions, and other documentation.

Conduct QA/QC checks of documents before publication.

Support Engineering Services to write articles, technical papers, and publications.

Handle standards committees as part of day-to-day business.

Maintain and update committee resources in Sharek and Engineering Standards CoP.

Review of Standards Business Briefs (SBBs) prior to weekly standards & waivers review meetings.

Support standards committees in technical writing of engineering standards during different stages.

Support standards' digital transformation.

Provide technical writing support to SA SMEs during participation in local, regional, and international standardization organizations.
