About the opportunity

We are looking for talented Process Engineers to get involved in a range of interesting and challenging projects across all stages of the urban water cycle. As a member of the UK Process team, you would be supported by and work as part of our diverse and dynamic UK and Ireland Water Process Group and within our Global Solutions and Technology group - supported by our regional Water and Wastewater leads, John Beechey and Amanda Lake and our global Water and Wastewater leads Russell Ford and Julian Sandino.

We have roles for both water and wastewater process engineers or those who enjoy both. Whilst this opportunity is to join our Manchester team, a role with Jacobs comes with opportunities to work across a range of Clients from our offices and in secondments - in municipal water and in different sectors - within the UK and globally.

Responsibilities include:
  • Acting as Process Engineer for the design of projects in a safe and professional manner
  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring the delivery of high quality design projects
  • Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with the other discipline engineers and project leads
  • Helping the team complete process design deliverables within agreed time frames and to budget
  • Mentoring and support for process graduates
  • Data gathering through desk top study and site work, data analysis and interpretation
  • Undertaking process calculations and process modelling, development of PFDs and P&IDs
  • Building on and maintaining up to date knowledge of developments in water and / or wastewater treatment technologies


Qualifications:

You will hold an MEng in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent) and will have experience in a process engineering role. You will be working towards Chartership and will be an enthusiastic, proactive Engineer with:
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team and the desire to be part of our Manchester and wider Process team of around 30 process engineers
  • An appreciation of Water and Wastewater theory and industry practices, standards and their application
  • Experience in the design of water or waste water non-infrastructure from feasibility stage through to detailed design including development of piping and instrumentation diagrams, control philosophies and detailed process calculations
  • Experience in supporting the delivery of process elements of design on small/medium or large water projects and/or delivering process elements of work by yourself with senior guidance/review
  • Strong Mathematical and Analytical skills including use of MS Excel
