About the opportunity

We currently have opportunities for Associate Directors of Civil Engineering with utility / water / infrastructure engineering experience to join our team, based in offices across England and Scotland or co-located with our major Water Industry clients in their offices (COVID19 precautions depending). The successful person will become part of a respected and ambitious company with excellent career prospects and international opportunities.

Working on projects throughout Europe, your responsibilities may include:
  • Taking responsibility for delivering projects and engineering designs on water and wastewater projects at various stages in the project life cycles, while ensuring technical excellence and best practice to specification.
  • Undertaking design of civils infrastructure for development projects.
  • Working with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver projects within agreed timeframes and budgets and to exceed our clients' expectations.
  • Ensuring project financial and schedule performance.
  • Driving health and safety in all aspects of our projects.
  • Supervising and visiting contractors on site and advising on engineering issues.
  • Communicating and liaising effectively with colleagues, contracting engineers, subcontractors, sub-consultants and clients.
  • Leading tendering procedures and putting together proposals.
  • Providing guidance and support to less experienced engineers/technicians.


  • Professionally qualified engineer status - Incorporated or Chartered Engineer
  • Significant experience in the civil engineering industry
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team, liaising directly with client and other project team members
  • Excellent communication skills, including written work
  • Ability to take responsibility to review work and make sure projects are completed to the correct specifications, on budget and on time.
  • Be comfortable developing a pipeline of projects through business development and have a number of contacts within the industry.
