The Applicant for this position must have experience in the design responsibility for High Voltage DC Power Supply. They will be a primary point of contact for high voltage power systems and have knowledge/expertise in power system architectures, design, and test. Support various groups of electrical and mechanical engineers responsible for high voltage DC power supply designs and upgrades (at the system and component level) through concept, detailed design (including PCB layout), integration and test, production release, and continuous improvement throughout the product's life cycle. Leads analysis of customer and system requirements and development of architectural approaches and detailed specifications for various power supply products. Leads development of high-level and detailed electronic power supply designs consistent with requirements and specifications.

Qualifications:

Undergrad or Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited college. Minimum of 3 years experience in power supply/component design.The Power Supply Design Engineer will have a strong understanding of high voltage power systems and have knowledge/expertise in power system architectures, design, and test. Relavent experince designing high voltage or high current power systems and the Integrated control of power systems. The candidate will be responsible for designing as well as supporting production and testing of the power supply systems and design of power systems test fixtures or equipment. The candidate will be involved in the development and testing of current design, test and manufacturing and develop and support power supply upgrade into production. Experience with high power analog components using Spice (or equivalent circuit analysis tools) and the PCB design process will be needed. The candidate will familiarize himself/herself with an existing new high voltage power supply design, complete its laboratory test/validation, release for production, lead ongoing design improvements for production, and lead new/future power supply developments. The candidate should display an attention to detail and produce designs with a high level of accuracy. Relevant experience working in a fast paced engineering environment.

  • Power Systems Design Development including power systems architecture, power budget creation and management, trade studies, detailed design of Printed Wiring Boards (PWBs), bus bars, interconnects, and/or cabling.
  • Management of voltage drop and ripple budgets.
  • Power Supply Design including requirements development, conceptual, preliminary and detailed design, design verification, and production support.
