Position: Asbestos Microscopist (Industrial Hygiene)

Location: Novi, MI

Accountabilities:

 

 

  • Preparation of bulk materials and sampling media for PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy)
  • Result Entry into LIMS system
  • Determine percentage of asbestos and non-asbestos amounts in samples utilizing optical analysis
  • Familiarity with current methods for Asbestos analysis for industrial hygiene analysis (Example NIOSH 7400)
  • Ability to follow and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment utilized for analysis
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a dynamic office environment
  • Computer skills for capture of images and documentation
  • Commitment to laboratory safety and working in a safe manner

 


Technical Competencies:

 

 

 

  • Comprehensive computer skills - internet, MS Office, Lotus Notes
  • Able to operate lab instruments including relevant software and computer programs

 


Education and Requirements:

 

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science or related
  • 0-2 years related experience
  • Relevant laboratory experience is an advantage
