Role Summary:

The Senior Control Systems Engineer will design and develop innovative control systems for the energy industry and industrial applications.

Essential Responsibilities:

In the role of Senior Control Systems Engineer, you will:
  • Work with an interdisciplinary team to design, develop and refine disruptive technology solutions that enable autonomous control for industrial applications
  • Leverage state-of-the-art technology in edge computing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, computer vision, and robotics to create solutions that move customers towards an autonomous future
  • Develop architecture to securely integrate advanced analytics and edge computing technology into traditional industrial OT networks and control systems
  • Identify and evaluate customer-centric value story and risks associated with autonomous operations for various energy and industrial applications
  • Develop analytical methods for processing data sets in real-time
  • Design / evaluate instrumentation, automation and control system hardware architecture including specification of critical components and their communication protocols
  • Design for and implement latest hardware and software cybersecurity standards
  • Integrate off-the-shelf sensors with single board computing platforms to rapidly build and deploy prototypes
  • Interface edge computing systems with existing sensors and/or field equipment and create network interface(s) for data interaction
  • Prepare, review and evaluate interface documentation, specifications, test plans and requirements
  • Support system test programs and analyze system testing
  • Deploy instrumentation and controls systems in customer trials
  • Work with technical teams in development, deployment and application of analytics
  • Generate & review hardware layouts, drawings, block diagrams, reports, annotated code and other project artifacts to document, archive and communicate the work and outcomes
  • Influence from a technical standpoint across the function and business
  • Demonstrated ability to work in highly collaborative, cross-functional environments
  • Working knowledge of advanced analytics methods (machine learning, advanced statistics, optimization, estimation, etc.)
  • Serves as the SME for control systems across EIC and possibly for the broader company
  • Applies deep knowledge of product development process and related process e.g. design reviews - must be able to develop new development processes and improve/optimize/combine existing processes as needed
  • Contributes to visionary identification of market needs and proposal of adequate solutions


Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Masters Degree in Electrical / Control Systems Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 10 years of applicable experience


Desired Characteristics:
  • Ph.D. in Control Systems Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Industrial / research work experience of 15 years or more
  • Thorough knowledge of industrial control systems and network architectures
  • Experience developing model-based control systems
  • Expertise in control theory of dynamic systems
  • Fluent in programing languages including Python, C++, C, Embedded C, Java, and CUDA
  • Familiarity with Matlab, Simulink, SysML/UML, VDHL or equivalent tools and how to model system interactions and dynamic analysis of complex systems
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC-UA, CANOpen, HART, EGD, etc.
  • Experience in hardware / software implementation through full scale commercial production of a product
  • Extensive knowledge of control system hardware components including real-time controllers, control valves, Edge Devices, PLCs, PCs, HMI hardware, modems, switches, data acquisition hardware, analog and digital I/O
  • Experience using a variety of operating systems including Windows, Linux, and embedded system operating systems such as QNX, LynxOS, Windows CE, etc.
  • Strong experience in programming control systems, open / closed loop control and non-linear systems
  • Knowledge of engineering analysis methods, mechanical & electrical systems and software systems
  • Experience incorporating engineering analytics or advanced data-driven analytics into control system software
  • Working knowledge and experience with hazardous area and intrinsic safety requirements
  • Proficient written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Detail oriented and demonstrated ability to develop technical requirements based upon proactive analysis of customer needs
  • Effective teaming and problem-solving abilities with strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Proven ability to think customer-first and effectively prioritize and pivot as required
  • Experience working in an innovation environment, creating concepts without necessarily a clear framework, and challenging norms for technology breakthrough
  • Ability to proactively connect with business units and evaluate a diverse range of technology products in order to identify opportunities for improvement and/or disruption
  • Is able to apply Model-based System Development principles and software to drive the use of model based development for complex multidisciplinary cyber-physical systems that involve the integration of sensors, actuators, electronics and software components


Locations: Oklahoma preferred , all other locations in the USA will be considered.
