Role Synopsis

Digital Workplace email team & service fall within the Productivity & Collaboration portfolio, developing & supporting bp's email services globally, spanning a hybrid infrastructure of on-premise & cloud-based services with extremely high availability & performance requirements. The team of platform engineers operate & manage the company wide email service supporting a global organization at scale around 100,000 mailboxes.

Key Accountabilities
  • Translate relevant business requirements into designs for technical platforms. Delivering Change & Projects, acting as technical advisor & voice of the customer, for Release & Deployment & Change planning & implementation into supported environments, owning the delivery of Support & Customer adoption readiness tasks
  • Create a clear vision & maximize value from current applications & emerging technologies, demonstrating technical thought leadership
  • Work with digital teams using deep domain expertise to support & guide the resolution of issues, incidents, problems & assist with integrated continuous improvement
  • Build awareness of internal & external technology developments, managing the delivery of process & system improvements
  • Lead & promote a culture of security & compliance

Desirable Education, Experience & Capability
  • Preferably a Bachelor's (or higher) degree, preferably in Computer Science, MIS/IT, Mathematics or a hard science
  • 5-7 yrs of relevant experience working in large scale email & collaboration tech roles with experience of on-premise MS Exchange ops at scale & 0365 experience
  • Overall 8-12 yrs experience in IT development or operational roles
Required Criteria
  • Supporting & configuring Exchange 2016+ (Hybrid & Online) / Active Directory / Office 365 / AAD Connect
  • Delivering & supporting Email architectures, & specific bespoke solutions
  • Application h&s on design & development using MS toolsets & platforms
  • Root cause analysis & diagnostic examinations to resolve client issues
  • SMTP mail flow ( EOP & SMTP application gateways)
  • DNS - MX, A, PTR, SPF, DKIM & DMARC records
  • PowerShell Scripting knowledge, using scripting to automate processes
  • ITSM - Service management toolsets such as ServiceNow
  • Exchange RBAC model & delegation rights including Azure application delivery (EWS & Graph API delegation & direct permissions models)
  • Office 365 admin settings for Exchange, Directory Synchronization, MIM & the road map
  • Identity management solutions
  • Brokerage solutions for O365 & Azure, incl. abstraction layers for automation
  • Exchange Architecture for messaging On Premise, Hybrid & Online
  • Client Access Servers, Mailbox server configuration, incl. high availability options

Preferred Criteria
  • MS 365 certifications or relevant
  • Exposure to adjacent domains (platforms, storage, databases)
  • DevOps practices & techniques (Value Stream Mapping, Lean, flow, eliminating waste)
  • Approaches to source-code management & control through Azure Dev Ops & Git/GitHub
  • Agile using Scrum &/or Kanban
