In a nuclear power plant everything revolves around safety. Inspection of the technical condition of the installation is an important part of this. But how do you determine the technical condition if a component is difficult to access? Developing robotic systems to link to our inspection equipment.

In Arnhem we have a small but highly specialised team with various disciplines. We also have our own research and test facility. Here we bring the designs to life and train. Our philosophy is: 'if you participate in the preparation of an inspection, you go along with the inspection'. This way of working makes our team unique and the work broad and challenging. That is why we also invest in you, so that you can receive training to become a NDT (Non Destructive Testing) specialist. Think here of Ultrasonic specialization.

As an engineer you will make system designs, draw up specifications, and consult with suppliers on the correct integration and purchase of systems. You are involved in the construction and contribute to it at times. Then you will train with 'your' inspection techniques and eventually carry out the inspection as a team. This process takes place under the direction of a project leader who can rely on your knowledge, skills, sense of responsibility and ownership.

The preparations (varying from 3 to 9 months per inspection) take place in Arnhem. The actual inspections on location take about 2 weeks per deployment and can include day or night shifts (a few weeks per year you will be working abroad).

You will be supervised so that you grow in your position and build up knowledge of nuclear reactor techniques, work processes and the market, so that you are able to take on more responsibility and manage processes independently.

Profile

 You have a completed HTS education and are happy with the opportunity to obtain an NDT certificate;

 You enjoy travelling abroad with a team for a few weeks a year;

 You are able to work both independently and to cooperate well in a team, also with colleagues from other disciplines;

 You are analytical and can work in a project-based manner so that you stay within the expectations regarding time, cost and quality of your own work package;

 It is not a problem for you to occasionally deviate from the standard office location and hours, if this is necessary for a project.

Team

The Inspection & Services team is dedicated to the optimization, reliability and safety of (nuclear) facilities such as nuclear power plants. The projects of Inspection & Services consist of preparing and performing Non Destructive Testing (NDT) in the primary part of nuclear facilities. This involves ultrasonic, eddy current and visual inspections of mainly welds of pipes and components.

For obvious reasons, the work is carried out remotely and with great accuracy. The inspections require special manipulators, electronics, sensors and software that the group develops and builds itself. The team consists of NDT experts (Non Destructive Testing: Ultrasonic, Visual, Eddy currents), mechanical engineers for robotic design and a software engineer.
