The Transaction, Commercial and Contracts Advisory (TCCA) unit at Jacobs is around 50 strong and spread throughout the UK, with an office in Bologna, Italy.

TCCA provide advice and solutions where 'infrastructure touches money'. The team brings deep sector knowledge combined with business expertise, to advise public and private sector clients when they are considering investing in infrastructure assets, when these assets change hands or when clients seek to manage and/or improve the performance of their assets or their business. across the following service areas:
  • Lenders' Technical Advice
  • Commercial & Technical Due Diligence
  • Contracts and Procurement Advisory
  • Transaction Advisory

TCCA provide services to global clients, on global infrastructure projects, leveraging the technical services from other parts of Jacobs, and collaborating with P3/Transaction Advisory teams in other global regions. Our team includes professionals who have deep knowledge of one element of our services as well as those who work across our service areas.

We are regarded by financial institutions as one of the leading providers of buy and sell side technical advisory services across infrastructure transactions, and pursue these opportunities in line with the market.

About the opportunity

We are seeking a Ports & Maritime Director to enhance our service offering in this sector. The successful candidate will help in shaping the strategic direction of our Ports & Maritime business and play a key role in the continued growth of the Jacobs business globally.

The successful candidate(s) will:
  • Come from working at a port business within a strategic, commercial or financial role; or have worked at a major consultancy with a strong focus on the ports and maritime sector;
  • Manage and develop client relationships and proactively promote the Jacobs brand across all the sectors in which we operate;
  • Actively engage in the ports and maritime market to develop pipeline of consulting projects;
  • Serve as Project Director for a significant volume of high-quality profitable client work across a variety of commissions in both the public and private sector;
  • Work closely with Jacobs ports & maritime technical experts to deliver projects co-creatively; and
  • Transfer knowledge and skills throughout the Company to promote staff development.


  • Broad experience of the Ports & Maritime sector, to include areas such as business/commercial planning, forecasting, regulation, strategy development, management organisation and capacity appraisal.
  • Experienced Ports & Maritime professional with a proven track record of providing strategic advice (externally or internally), including a deep understanding of commercial and/or technical due diligence activities;
  • Understanding of key market and industry trends and the ability to communicate these clearly and effectively both internally and externally;
  • Managing and developing client relationships within the infrastructure sector, including port operators, maritime authorities, port owners and investors.
  • Strong commercial and financial awareness, with specific appreciation of risks within the Ports & Maritime sector; and
  • Experience of business development, work winning and proposal writing.

Desirable characteristics for this role include:
  • Industry experience within one or more of the other sectors in which we operate (rail, highways, utilities, airports, energy, social infrastructure), or experience within a financial institution (e.g. providers of equity / debt to projects requiring project finance).
  • Experience with hinterland development and supply chain management.
