About the opportunity:

The Contract Engineer / Project Manager will be responsible for the management of one or multiple civil engineering design contracts.

She/he will be ultimately responsible for all aspects of the contract, from ensuring that the technical specifications are adhered to by the contract holder, to ensuring the contracts runs to the planned schedule, cost and quality.

Main activities:
She/he will carry out the following main activities:

Project management

o Ensure contract specifications are followed by the contract holder(s)
o Managing the technical surveillance of contract holder's studies
o Establish surveillance programme(s) and annual surveillance reports
o Managing the resolution of contractor technical queries
o Organise and run weekly and monthly progress meetings
• Contract/commercial management
o Develop and improve contracts tools
o Lead contractual discussions and clarifications
o Prepare, review and analyse Early Warnings and Compensation Events
o Review and validate monthly payment applications
• Prepare and deliver reporting
o Financial
o Progress
• Risk management
o Maintain the risk register of the contract(s)
• Team management
o Lead a small team of Contract Managers and Assistant Project Managers
• Stakeholder management
o Liaison with different entities from the client organisation
• Audits of the contract holder
o Quality
o Financial
• Lessons learnt
o Recording and sharing lessons learnt from everyday activities for the benefit of others on the
project
• Implementation of lessons learnt from previous projects and other contracts

Key relationships:

The Contract Engineer / Project Manager will report to the Group Leader and will lead a small team of contract managers and assistant project managers.

Other interfaces within the Client business will include those with other Group Leaders, civil engineers, scheduling and cost control teams.

The Contract Engineer / Project Manager will work with the Responsible Designer's Project Management Office (PMO), procurement department and potentially legal teams.

Business Travel:
• Bristol based with occasional trips to France

Qualifications:

Here's What You'll Need:
Essential:
• Bachelor / Master's degree in a relevant field of engineering.
• Project management qualification and/or experience.
• Contract management qualification and/or experience (preferably NEC3 or similar target price contract).
• Knowledge of and/or experience of civil engineering design contracts in the nuclear sector or heavily
regulated industry (such as oil & gas, rail,).
• Good presentation, influencing and facilitation skills.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills; able to develop relationships and maintain effective networks.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• MS office proficient.
• English fluent - written & verbal.
Desirable:
• Nuclear experience, working within a regulated, licenced environment.
• French language skills, written & verbal.
• Working knowledge of Primavera 6.
