Overview / Responsibilities

Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Buyer - Expeditor. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Supply Chain Services, this position is located in our Calgary, Alberta office. This role has overall responsibility for providing key supply chain management support on industrial projects. Key Responsibilities


  • Lead procurement activities for major equipment and materials packages throughout the proposal and evaluation and recommendation phases
  • Prepare, execute and maintain the procurement strategy for multiple projects
  • Coordinate and execute procurement activities with project team within scheduled delivery expectations
  • Develop supplier pre-qualification methodology based on corporate strategies
  • Lead the project team through the negotiations regarding commercial terms & conditions for purchases
  • Administer purchase requisitions and purchase orders through the corporate or client project management systems
  • Review and recommend payment of invoices for purchase orders
  • Adhere to project documentation procedures to ensure deliverables are submitted in accordance to the contract terms
  • Committing purchase orders and maintaining controls to monitor supplier performance and conformance to commercial terms
  • Expediting vendor data and material delivery


Skills / Qualifications




  • A minimum of 10 years purchasing experience in a heavy industrial environment
  • Experience working on EPC and EPCM type projects in a Supply Chain Management capacity
  • Experience in managing a small team of Supply Chain professionals would be an asset
  • Technical diploma in Supply Chain or engineering degree in a relevant discipline is an asset
  • Advanced computer skills and experience in a data base environment
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Construction field experience is an asset
