ENGIE are recruiting for a Development Manager this is a national role. This is a permanent full-time role working Monday to Friday. On offer is a competitive salary, and benefits package.

To work with the P&C's national and regional development & land community to identify, shape, assess and support the progression of the company's priority land, development and investment project opportunities against key strategic and project criteria as well and the key account relationship with Homes England. The role will involve close liaison with a wide range of business sectors and divisions and the use of ENGIE's CRM and communication tools to promote collaborative working on land, partnership, development and investment opportunities. Schemes may include both mixed use and mixed residential tenure options including, but not limited to, PRS, retirement living, open market sale and affordable homes

Main Responsibilities/Duties Include:

  • Working with business development and regional teams to target and assess development, investment, land and partnering opportunities to support ENGIE's development and investment strategy and business plan.
  • To develop and support the creation, establishment and implementation of Partnering Strategies in accordance with corporate Customer Connect and Business Development policies
  • Working with divisions and P&C regions to report on departmentally relevant partnering and transactional activity nationally across the business, measuring key KPIs on a monthly basis including satisfaction scores and critical issues.
  • Use Salesforce, (ENGIE's Customer Relationship Management) tool, to keep Partner's account information up to date through maintaining Account, Contact and Opportunity data
  • Use Salesforce to keep Opportunities and Accounts updated with regards to ongoing Partnering discussions.
  • Use Salesforce to identify existing Opportunities and Accounts that could have the potential to include development, investment of partnering options.
  • Use ENGIE's communication tools, including the Knowledge Hub, Innovation Network and Yammer to foster collaboration across the development community.
  • Take specific national or regional development opportunities through the complete development; managing and leading on all elements of the development process including all stakeholder management.
  • Lead the progression of led projects through the ENGIE's governance and approval processes; support governance process for other pipeline schemes
  • Liaise with legal and multi-disciplinary professional advisors as required in relation to led projects
  • To provide research and analysis to inform the ongoing development of the Developments and Investment / Land & Partnership business stream and to support specific projects including the co-ordination of due diligence on identified partners
  • To support other ENGIE workstreams requiring land and development input
Knowledge and skills:
  • The job holder will have knowledge and understanding of:
  • Development processes and scheme appraisals - Knowledge of the entire development and real estate life cycle and what is involved at key stages, with a particular focus on pre-construction, viability and sustainability.
  • Planning - understand the planning process, timeline, use classes, key deliverables required for different types of planning applications. The candidate will have knowledge of the range of permissible project densities and will understand the relationship of planning policy factors in existing national and local policy as well as have good knowledge of evolving policy,
  • Land, Legal, Funding and Tax- understanding all aspects of land acquisition and disposal including typical due diligence requirements (land remediation, utility connections, third party rights, statutory consents), contract and funding structures in particular the use of 3rd grants or development loans, tax implications and the benefits and disadvantages of various forms of partnership agreement.
  • Reporting - production of management and KPI information from the national land database, CRM system and other business tools
  • Construction and Operations - understanding of the key principles of the procurement, construction and operating stages of delivering built environment projects

The job holder will have:
  • Experience of working on regeneration projects at various stages including;
    • Land acquisition and opportunity identification
    • Structuring and partnership
    • Masterplanning and planning
    • Handover to delivery teams
  • Experience working within a development team of either an investment or development business, registered provider, local authority or developing contractor;
  • Experience of working in different roles within the property and development sectors
  • Experience of working with multiple stakeholders

  • Degree in technical element of the development process or social science degree with subsequent practical development experience
  • Holding or working towards a professional qualification such as MRICS or equivalent
