Overview / Responsibilities
As a part of our continued growth, Wood's Calgary and Lethbridge offices have exciting opportunities for Senior Water Resources / Irrigation Engineers. The ideal candidate will have completed a Civil Engineering program with an emphasis on water management, preferably with at least 12 years of experience related to water resources, irrigation engineering and design.
As part of the Western Canada Water Resources team, you will act as a senior technical resource who will be involved in a variety of projects including rural and urban open channel drainage, storm water management and the analysis of hydraulic systems. Other areas of work could include studies to identify and mitigate flood risk, designing and constructing water intakes, pump stations, distribution systems and outfalls and providing input into environmental impact studies. Your experience will ideally encompass preliminary design through detailed design, tendering and construction administration.
With your years of experience coupled with your strong communication skills, you will take on a senior role in the areas of technical development, business development and project management, and will be expected to provide mentorship to developing staff.
It is expected that every member of the team will take an active role in representing Wood Environment and Infrastructure Solutions to current and prospective clients in the local and regional marketplace. You will be expected to build business relationships with clients and partnerships with in-house clients and other offices across Canada on a project basis.
Skills / Qualifications
- B.Sc. in Civil Engineering. A post-graduate degree in Water Resources is an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication, as well as presentation skills
- Registered, or eligible for registration, as a P.Eng. with APEGA
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in water resources, with considerable experience on project work in Canada particularly in the Prairie region
- Experience as a Project Manager or Technical Team Leader for water resources projects
- Experience leading large multidisciplinary projects
- Understanding of the design and construction challenge associated with a northern climate
- Hydraulic structure design - culverts, drop structures, intakes, outfalls and other control structures
- River engineering - revetments, erosion control and river training
