Business Unit Description:

Delivering safe, innovative approaches to managing high-risk, technically complex projects - from management and operations to innovative clean-up and environmental remediation. Jacobs ATN-I provides a complete suite of services and specialized expertise for an array of facility and infrastructure types that aim to optimise our clients' investments and meet the needs of multiple stakeholders.

Role Outline/Responsibilities:

The Replacement Analytical Project (RAP) is part of the Analytical Services (AS) Sub Programme.

AS provides an essential service to SL's operations on the Sellafield Site. Without an analytical capability SL's operations would be significantly impacted. The existing Separation Area analytical facility is over 60 years old and is degraded to the extent that it is considered to be the site's highest operational risk. The facility is expected to become unserviceable within 10 to 15 years, but a date cannot be forecast with confidence. To date, the main focus of the analytical services has been to support reprocessing operations, however, as SL's mission changes from reprocessing to High Hazard Reduction, Post Operational Clean Out (POCO) and decommissioning, new analytical demands and capabilities will be required.

A review of the future provision of AS concluded that provision of a replacement capability is a more cost effective, risk averse solution to meet the future requirement than further investment in an already ageing existing facility. Modification of the existing National Nuclear Laboratory Central Laboratory (NNLCL) was identified as the preferred option by the AS Sub Programme.

An Executive Review of the AS Sub Programme was undertaken where this proposal was supported. Subsequently, studies have been completed to confirm the viability of this option called the Replacement Analytical Project (RAP).

The aim of RAP is to: apply existing analytical techniques, introduce new analytical techniques (by developing new analytical instrumentation) and modify the existing NNLCL to provide the new analytical capability

The requirement is for an experienced PDMS CE&I Designer to integrate into the existing RAP PDMS team based at Risley. They will be responsible for the following:

1) Design of installable CE&I cable route infrastructure / plant layouts that can be safely installed and subsequently populated with cables.

2) Ensuring all relevant standards, instructions and specifications are applied.

3) Interfacing with other disciplines to ensure optimised design.

4) Production of various deliverables, e.g. isometrics, general arrangements.

5) Checking of other designers' deliverables.

Qualifications:

The candidate must be an experienced PDMS user, particularly in CE&I aspects including the production of automated drawings from the 3D model. They should have several years' experience of CE&I design working within a highly regulated industry. They shall be fully conversant with UK Statutory Regulations and industry guides and standards relating to this discipline. It would also be an advantage to be familiar with the relevant Sellafield Limited Standards.

Essential skills:

PDMS, Navisworks Freedom Viewer, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office suite of programmes.

Desirable skills:

CAESAR/Aveva experience

The position is subject to the ability of the candidate to obtain as a minimum baseline personnel security standard clearance and obtain a Sellafield P1 pass.

The role holder must either hold SC clearance or have started their application, with the belief of the employer that there should be no grounds for this level of clearance to be denied.
