Job Summary

AECOM is seeking for an experienced Lead Environmental Technician at a project site in Amarillo, Texas.

The responsibilities include but are not limited:
  • Performs standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations.
  • Conducts a variety of standardized tests and may prepare specimens; Sets up and operates standard laboratory testing equipment of moderate complexity.
  • Records test data and provides observation and interpretations of it.
  • Performs fieldwork, including but not limited to environmental sampling, operations and maintenance and inspections at client sites.
  • Other activities may include assisting with calculations, setting up and operating equipment, inspecting equipment and installations for compliance with specifications and maintaining proper project documentation.

Minimum Requirements
  • HS + 4 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check; many projects clients are security sensitive
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen
  • Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work in indoor and outdoor environments with uneven terrain. Variable environmental conditions include heat, dusts, noise, and dryness. This position requires frequent (more than 50% of the workday) standing/walking, and operation of vehicles; often (25-50% of the workday) performing keyboard/mouse operations, working alone in isolated/remote areas, and lifting less than 25 pounds; occasionally (10-25% of the workday) performing repetitive bending/stooping, power gripping/squeezing (hand tools, levers, etc.), operation of heavy, moving or dangerous equipment, and lifting of 25-50 pounds; rarely (less than 10% of the workday) working with arms above shoulder level, in an environment of heavy, moving, dangerous equipment, using portable ladders, performing repetitive or fine hand movements, and working on electrical circuits.
  • Position will include conducting field work and wearing associated personal protective equipment, including but not limited to gloves, safety glasses/goggles, safety shoes/boots, hard hat, and hearing protection.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Mechanically inclined with experience operating and maintaining remediation systems, including air sparge and biovent systems, and collecting groundwater samples.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour and Supervisor training.
  • Experience and engagement in behavior-based safety programs.
  • Experience operating tractors or other heavy equipment capable of mowing large areas of property is preferred.
  • Travel may occasionally be necessary to job sites in West Texas and Oklahoma.
