Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Environmental Scientist for employment in the Freeport, TX or Plaquemine, LA office.

This position is expected to begin in January 2021.

About DCSA-Environment

With world class technical expertise, leading edge technology and innovative project delivery capability around the world, AECOM's global environmental practice helps industry and government meet their business goals - to achieve compliance, reduce or eliminate risks and manage impacts. We provide advisory and technical services to help clients cleanup and close contaminated sites and surplus operational facilities and restore them for reuse, plan and permit new facilities, address critical climate change issues, restore habitats and water quality, protect natural and cultural resources, maintain compliance, and cost effectively manage residuals and wastes.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Planning environmental monitoring events, including field resource coordination, monitoring event scheduling, field document preparation, interfacing with equipment/supply vendors, tracking event completion progress, and providing regular updates to the project manager.
  • Conducting environmental field work, including groundwater sampling, fluid level gauging, and oversight of field surveys and utility clearance for intrusive operations.
  • Supporting office tasks, including data analysis and report preparation.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or equivalent.
  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.
  • Must possess valid Driver's license.
  • Requires enrollment in the medical monitoring program requiring initial and annual physicals.
  • Must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test and random drug screens.
  • Must meet requirements for entry into client petrochemical facilities, including but not limited to:
  • TWIC
  • Substance Abuse Testing
  • Background checks
  • Site-specific training
Preferred Qualifications
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of the equipment and technology used to gather samples and information from the field.
  • Experience in a petrochemical environment.
  • Verbal and written communication skills; able to interface directly with project stakeholders.
  • Organization skills, attention to detail in recording field data.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software to create reports.
  • Ability to perform bending, kneeling, standing, confined-space entry, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and have a tolerance for working in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions.
  • Ability to wear an air-purifying respirator, as required by OSHA Standards.
  • 40 hour HAZ Materials Handling Training.
  • WIC card holder.
  • Basic Plus training.
