Overview / Responsibilities

Due to a continuing strong workload across a range of sectors throughout the UK we are looking to recruit an Assistant Consultant or Consultant to join our Historic Environment team. Subject to the preferences of a successful candidate it is likely that this role could be based in one of our offices in Reading, Bristol or London.

Key Responsibilities:

This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to the continued success and growth of a reputable and successful team and contribute to a wide range of high-profile projects across Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solution's business. Building on a strong academic background, you will be responsible for providing support to the Historic Environment team in terms of delivering environmental consultancy services to a full range of UK-based and International clients.

The role will include production of desk based assessments, monitoring site investigation works, preparation of specifications for archaeological fieldwork, monitoring subcontractors and supporting the delivery of Historic Environment EIA chapters.

The post holder will be required to undertake site visits and walkover surveys, as well as visiting client premises and Wood's other offices. The role will involve away working and a full driving licence will be required.

Skills / Qualifications

You will be educated to degree level in Archaeology or another relevant subject and will have a sound background in British archaeology and a thorough knowledge of heritage conservation policy, likely to have been gained from relevant post-graduate commercial experience. Experience of working with historic buildings is desirable, as is membership of a relevant professional organisation.

An ability to communicate clearly both verbally and through written work is essential. IT skills and knowledge of GIS systems will be advantageous. At Assistant Consultant level you should expect to undertake desk-based research and monitor fieldwork projects as well as a desire to develop your skills in environmental consultancy.
