Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is recruiting a Welding Supervisor to join our team in Brunei. The project will run over a five - year period with a possible two - year extension. Wood has many years of experience in carrying such projects all over the world and it is our intention to bring our world class systems to this project

Purpose / Role

  • Responsibility to act on work from construction supervisor, coordinates daily welding construction activity ensuring work is carried out in a safe manner.

  • Ensure all welding work is carried out in a safe and productive manner and to a high standard in line with Company and client Procedures

Prime responsibilities and duties

  • Supervise all welding and marking off activities
  • Ensure welders and Markers / Pipe fitters adhere to established safety rules, codes, practices, and regulations in accordance with procedures
  • Ensure all welders and Markers / Pipe fitters have the required tools and safety equipment, and that such items are maintained in a good and safe condition
  • Can read drawings and specifications, and be familiar with the work programmes to progress the work as necessary for the timely and proper execution of the work
  • Report immediately to the Construction Supervisor or Construction Superintendent, any discrepancy, or material shortages he may discover
  • Ensure discipline on members of crew and if required, request a replacement of unacceptable individuals after liaison with the welding inspector
  • Liaise with client, company and third - party representatives ensuring that the company responsibilities are carried out on site
  • Plan and organize the work ensuring that the necessary resources are available and fit for purpose
  • Plan and organize the team to carry out the work
  • Ensure that the workforce maintain a high standard of productivity
  • Maintain the information loop between colleagues and other disciplines / departments
  • Oversee the team, manage resources, and maintain records
  • Ensure systems are built as per the latest rev work pack
  • Manage certification, documentation, reporting, (daily / weekly)
  • Liaise with discipline engineers in all aspects of work scheduling, planning, QC, materials, and resolution of problems
  • Review and evaluate existing and future work scopes and associated work packs
  • Reading and interpreting drawings, (Including other disciplines where required)
  • Work in hazardous areas under 'permit to work' regulations.

  • Participate and contribute to Amec Foster Wheeler personnel development programmes
  • Be Aware of and practice fully the requirement for total safety attitude in all operations
