On a typical day, but not limited to, the Application Support Engineer will support Baker Hughes real-time remote operation applications for the different Oilfield disciplines.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Level 2 Technical Support across data centers
  • Configuration management and documentation
  • Deploy application upgrades/patches in production and test environments
  • Capacity planning, system performance monitoring, resource utilization trending
  • Actively participate the incident and problem management
  • Co-ordinate with Baker Hughes IT Infrastructure Group for Database, Server Support and Development Teams to resolve complex technical escalations
  • Co-ordinate with Baker Hughes IT Enterprise Applications Group for Enterprise Portal, Messaging and Content Teams to resolve complex technical escalations
  • Perform Root cause Analysis (RCA)


Qualifications/Requirements:

 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Math, or IT
  • 7+ years of experience in application support
  • Experience with WebLogic or similar application server technology administration
  • Extensive experience with working on Linux servers and shell scripting
  • Experience in Rational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) and NoSQL database technologies
  • Understanding of network infrastructure including switching, routing, Ethernet, TCP/IP
  • Application deployment and implementations experience
  • Experience in AWS, Azure or other cloud platforms
  • Change management and Incident management process

Desired Characteristics:

 

 

  • 2+ years of experience in Real-Time Applications
  • 2+ Apache Cassandra or similar NoSQL database technologies
  • Must have strong troubleshooting skills and in-depth knowledge of multi-site, mixed-technology enterprise environments
  • Experience in DevOps, CICD processes and technologies
  • Apache Tomcat or similar application server experience is good to have
  • Knowledge of VMware and other virtualization platforms
  • Global support experience
  • Oil and Gas experience is desired
