Cost Forensics Phase II-Accelerated Adoption:

The company is funding a dedicated effort to rapidly accelerate the implementation of cost forensics capabilities for COP. Being exceptional at how we manage spend in Operations is critical to our company's competitiveness going forward. This next phase includes creating a multi-discipline team to engage with BU's, provide central support of BU cost initiatives, deliver an enhanced cost management system, and raise cost management skill. The program is comprised of multiple BU's (Alaska,Canada, Eagle Ford, Bakken) and multiple functions (GP, SC, Finance, IT) and will run through Q2021. If successful, this has the potential to extend to many other BU's and Functions and become a key input to the nxtgenERP solution design.



Role Description:

This role will report to the CORE Team Lead. As a member of the Cost Forensics program, this role will support the BU and global Forensics Phase 2 &and potentially Phase3 initiatives. This role will work closely with BU and functional personnel as well as the CMS Team Lead and the Program Lead. This role will serves as an Operational Analytics Engineer/Analyst subject matter expert and will leverage past operational experience when it comes to maintenance, production optimization, cost management, improvement of operational procedures, and data analysis.



The CORE Team will have the following deliverables:

•BU Targeted Cost Savings Support-Work with participating BUs (EagleFord, Alaska, Bakken and Surmont) to facilitate finding cost saving opportunities; this could be using a campaign, bench-marking and/or an integration with current processes. This collaboration includes Organizational Change Management (OCM) and communications support as per BU request.

•BU Cost Management Skill Development Support-Support increased cost forensics skills of the participating BU's, including capturing and propagating best practices, creating boot-camps, and training materials to utilize the newly built Cost Management System.

•Grow Central COP Ops Cost Support Expertise-Work with participating BU's and the rest of the Cost Forensics program to elevate COP's focus on cost, spend efficiency through improved understanding of cost data visibility utilization and zero-based budgeting techniques.



Responsibilities:

•Responsible to collect, analyze, and translate user requirements into technical solutions.

•Facilitate campaign efforts to identify and improve cost at the operational asset level, and identify process improvements areas in operational practices.

•Support operational personnel with appropriate data set on key indicators to allow further investigation and decision making.

•Performs comparative analysis of related records by clearly and concisely identifying potential data anomalies and resolving critical data element discrepancies.

•Supporting the creation of an effective knowledge sharing process, including the capturing, and propagating of Best Practices.

•Ensuring alignment with corporate and BU Finance and Supply Chain processes and policies.



Required Qualifications:

•Legally authorized to work in the United States •Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management, or related field •Served as upstream oil & gas Operations Engineer or an Analytics SME on a large-scale transformational program •Possess above average organizational skills, critical thinking and decision-making capabilities and is very detail oriented.

•Proven ability to investigate data using visualization tools •Proven ability to present challenging content with successful results •Thorough understanding of BI/DW concepts and proficient in SQL •Must have excellent oral and written communication •8+ years of Upstream Oil & Gas operations experience •5+ years analytics experience



Preferred Qualifications:

•Able to thrive in a team/collaborative environment •Experience in multiple upstream oil and gas organizations and/or disciplines •Microsoft Azure Dev Ops tool •Experience with AWS technologies (S3, SageMaker, Athena, EMR, Redshift,Glue, etc.) •Spotfire and Power BI experience
 

  • experience within Operations, Supply Chain, or Financial modules. In-particular ERP Spend or Purchasing data understanding.
