Our office in Warrington faces our nuclear clients, and the role will primarily be directly supporting clients who need to design, build and commission nuclear process plant across the UK. This means that most of the time is spent in client offices, working in mixed teams of people from various companies, this is normally in Warrington but could be at other Jacobs offices in the north of England, or at client sites nationwide.

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Develop and nurture an Engineering Capability to align with the business requirements
  • Identify opportunities for growth and develop/manage an implementation strategy
  • Build client relationships to make effective use of existing frameworks
  • Resource planning and recruitment requirements
  • Staff performance management and development planning
  • Line management duties for a mixed team of staff and contractors of all levels of experience.
  • Lead the development of the engineering elements of the project/task baseline scope, schedule and budget for multi-discipline delivery
  • Ensure work portfolio is delivered and controlled efficiently and effectively to meet agreed specification, cost and schedule
  • Ensure status and performance of work is reported accurately and in a timely manner
  • Lead production of design Quality Plans
  • Lead co-ordination of LFE
  • Interfacing with design teams and stakeholders

Other duties will include:
  • Attendance at relevant Project meetings and workshops
  • Organising Design Review meetings
  • Managing responses to technical queries, concessions, etc
  • Regular attendance will be required at project office and site locations along with design team delivery locations.


  • A minimum of 10 years of post-graduate work experience in a highly regulated industry, some of it in the nuclear industry
  • Experience of management of design delivery in a highly regulated industry preferably with specific experience in multi-discipline design.
  • Knowledge of delivering against legislative, regulatory and company policy standards and procedures e.g. safety, quality, risk, security
  • Proactive and driven approach to work, taking ownership of the tasks required to be completed under their remit
  • Knowledge and experience of health and safety legislation including Construction (Design & Management) and Health and Safety at Work act.
  • Comfortable working under time and cost constraints
  • Degree Qualification or equivalent qualification in a relevant technical or business discipline
  • Familiarity with nuclear design principles and processes

  • Able to demonstrate that continuing professional development has been a part of their career so far
  • Working knowledge of Excel and appropriate CAE packages
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Chartered status
