As a Junior Rail Engineer on our team in Philadelphia, PA, you'll have the opportunity to support the design of electric traction infrastructure so we can shape lasting solutions for the future. We'll ask you to draw from your past internship experience and your engineering education to be willing to learn and become proficient at the design of overhead catenary systems for both light rail and heavy rail transit systems.

As a team member, you will learn how to design wiring layouts, profiles, and structural erection diagrams. You will learn how to design foundations as well as catenary and transmission poles to support the overhead catenary. You will review various shop drawings and prepare construction cost estimates for all types of light rail/transit projects. You will perform structural and civil design calculations, sketches, technical comparisons, and other technical work.

We'll ask you to review drawings supplied by contractors, clients, and engineers and then you will make the necessary changes using AutoCAD or MicroStation. Using your engineering degree, you'll research code issues and work with City, State, and County officials as well as research design options and documents to support senior level design engineers and managers.

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • At least one previous summer design internship on transportation, and or rail is preferred.
  • EIT certificate is preferred
  • One previous summer internship experience with AutoCAD and/or Microstation is preferred
