Jacobs is recruiting for a Field Supervisor with experience in the nuclear industry to join our Clean Energy business supporting clients in the UK and Europe from EDF's nuclear site at Heysham.

From the commencement of your employment, you will be expected to lead routine maintenance and project work for EDF Energy through effective planning and field supervision of a small team of mechanical and electrical engineers, working directly on the customer site with overall support from the Jacobs Site Manager. You will work closely with the customers Investment Delivery Project managers and System Health Engineers to ensure project delivery safely, effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring delivery of maintenance regimes that will ensure reliability until end of station life through effective supervision of the team
  • Delivery of project work through supervision of the team for example HVAC refurbishment including surveying, testing, inspection, fire damper work, inside ducting and installation of plant
  • Utilising team to reduce defects and using innovation where possible to increase efficiencies and system health
  • Periodically report progress of the core or project work providing information that may improve the effectiveness of the activities work conducted and how they may add value.
  • Maintain a regular dialogue with the Site Team Manager and client to ensure that all projects requirements are being met
  • Provide accurate estimates of engineering work to the Site Manager for tenders/proposals

As a Jacobs representative and supervisor on site for the maintenance team, ensuring safe delivery of the works to client and Jacobs policy and procedures, you will be accountable to the Site Manager for:
  • Safety leadership in the field
  • Delivering high HSSE standards for the team and ensuring team compliance to HSSE regulations
  • Sustained delivery of the Jacobs/team KPIs with a focus on safety
  • Adherence to client policies on site
  • Planning of project work within the client site schedule
  • Reporting of any incidents observed on site to the Site Manager


Qualifications:

  • Experience in supervising a blue-collar team in compliance with HSSE policy
  • Knowledge and experience of nuclear plant systems or structures
  • Experience in mechanical or electrical maintenance and refurbishment
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, related schematics diagrams and circuitry
  • Ability to schedule works and plan labour resource requirements
  • Ability to re-prioritise and flex requirements as determined by the customer
  • Ability to effectively liaise with the client and team and produce regular update reports
  • Have commercial awareness relating to cost and value of the service provided
  • Can analyse and provide practical recommendations and solutions to clients' technical problems from own expertise
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other team members with knowledge of engineering practices and standards
