We are seeking a data scientist, in unconventional technology, to join our Emerging Unconventional Assets Department (EUAD).
EUAD is responsible for identifying, testing, and implementing technical solutions to streamline, track, and monitor unconventional geoscience operations and projects. The group functions as a center of excellence for data analytics, digital transformation, and big data solutions (IR4.0) within the unconventional geoscience domain.
Your primary role will be to help discover the information hidden in vast amounts of data, and make smarter decisions to deliver even better products. Your primary focus will be in applying data mining techniques, performing statistical analysis, and creating various machine learning-based tools.
As the successful candidate, you will hold a Bachelor's degree in Earth Sciences from a recognized and approved program, with a deep understanding of Computer Science.
You will have five years of experience in exploration, including at least two years in software engineering.
You will have an excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms.
You must have proven experience as a data scientist or data analyst.
You will be able to demonstrate problem-solving aptitude.
You must have experience with Petrosys, Petrel, Decision Space Desktop, and other exploration technology.
Experience with common data science toolkits is also necessary.
You will also have proficiency in using query languages, e.g., Python, Hive, and Pig.
You will have the ability to use the latest software development technologies.
Duties & Responsibilities:
You will be required to perform the following:
Provide technical solutions to streamline, track, and monitor operations and projects, along with adopting technologies within Unconventional Resources that enable the monitoring and streamlining of large-scale operations, while ensuring data quality preservation.
Data analytics, digital transformation, and big data solutions (IR4.0).
Assess existing operations, and provide recommendations to develop solutions and revise standards and procedures, as necessary.
Identify valuable data sources, and build predictive models and machine-learning algorithms.
Undertake preprocessing of structured and unstructured data.
Enhance data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytical systems.
Verify the integrity of data used for analysis.
Analyze large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns.
