Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Environmental & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a Civil or Environmental Engineering Project Manager based in our Boston, MA office with the flexibility to work remotely in the following states Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Maine. However, will be required to travel to the office/client sites to manage their projects as needed. The key role will provide civil design work and oversee multi-discipline and multimillion dollar projects with municipal and state agencies related to Solar, Landfill, Land Development, Stormwater and Sediments as well as contributing to the growth pursuit other client opportunities.

Work Location :

Wood has a flexible working model at which this position can be remotely based/work from home or in an office located in Boston, MA!!!

Key Responsibilities :
  • Develop, grow, pursue and oversee multimillion-dollar project opportunities with municipal and state agencies related to Solar, Landfill, Land Development, Stormwater and Sediments
  • Manage sales/profit, being externally/client focused, meeting or exceeding budgeted metrics, and resource management, while also ensuring the highest possible standards of integrity, safety, quality and operational excellence
  • Develop and manage proposal efforts, business strategies, and lead in contract negotiations including but not limited to terms & conditions, scope, and budget
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to staff; ensure ongoing performance feedback, support development and growth, address performance and behavioral issues as necessary - Responsible for driving accountability in quality standards; utilize tools, training, and challenge team for excellence in quality of work product
  • Grading and drainage design and stormwater modeling
  • Erosion and sediment control and stormwater permitting
  • Prepare engineering design calculations and design reports
  • Preparation of project permitting documents for local, state and federal permits
  • Prepare engineering cost estimates for civil construction projects
  • Assist in subcontractor procurement including attending pre-bid meetings, preparation of bid addendums, evaluating bidder proposals, conducting reference checks, and provide recommendations to client
  • Provide construction administration and project management support including review of contractor submittals, responding to contractor requests for information (RFIs) and clarifications
  • Preparation of bulletins and change orders, attending construction progress meetings, review of contractor invoices, conduct project closeout activities including final inspections, completion of punch lists, record drawings and contract closeout
  • Prepare scopes of work, schedules and budgets and assist with the preparation of proposals
  • Interact with coworkers, clients and prospective clients while conducting work in a professional and ethical manner


Skills / Qualifications

Qualifications Required :
  • BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related field
  • 10+ years civil design experience
  • PE registration
  • Ability to prepare design engineering calculations, reports, specifications and drawings
  • AutoCAD Civil3D knowledge and experience
  • Extensive design experience to provide mentorship to junior staff and provide technical and quality control project reviews
  • Strong understanding of the diverse facets of the permitting process and a sound ability to prioritize and accomplish the needs of a project in a comprehensive and timely fashion
  • Grading and drainage design and stormwater modeling experience
  • Erosion and sediment control and stormwater permitting experience
  • Experience working with one or more of the following: Solar, Landfill, Stormwater, Land Development and Sediment Projects
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and prepare construction drawings and technical specifications
  • Knowledge of materials of construction and developing construction details
  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written, and organizational abilities
  • Experience with municipal and state regulatory procedures in the representation of both applicants and municipalities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a diverse work environment
  • Willingness to accept responsibility and additional support tasks
  • Strong dedication to maintaining a safe work environment and promoting company safety culture
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours if/as required
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Valid drivers license and insurable driving record
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites
  • Approximately 10% overnight travel
  • Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy

Qualifications Preferred :
  • NCEES registration as a Model Law Engineer is a plus
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Training is preferred
  • 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety Training is a plus
